CHANEY

Chaney is a Band with a Purpose. The bands lead singer, Chad Chaney, taking a huge leap of faith, moved to Austin,Texas three years ago when he got the calling to leave behind a life of "selfish dreams" in the acting business. Chaney was well on his way to living that dream, when the Lord gave him a greater purpose for his life, a call to ministry. The choice was instantaneous and the move from his previous locale in Melrose, departing for Austin, was made that very week. Knowing no one in that particular city, he took his first leadership position in a singles ministry where he has was certain to find an audience hungry for what he was being called upon to offer. From that moment which would be his first worship service, Chad knew he was put on this earth with one purpose- to outwardly worship the King of Kings, sharing his ministry through Praise and Worship.

A chance encounter soon lead to a meeting with Dewayne Morris and Jay Jayusuriya, and the band CHANEY was born. The band now includes Chad, lead vocalist/principle lyricist, as well as acoustic guitar; Dewayne Morris on electric and lead guitars; Jay Jayasuriya playing keyboards, piano and providing back-up vocals; William Rutschman on the drums, and Murilo Dias playing bass. When asked to pen point their sound, the band describes theirs as that of Christian rock, with influences such as Jeremy Camp and Switchfoot sprinkled into the mix to reach a broader audience. The band’s stated goal and purpose is to produce music which appeals to anybody. Lyrically, CHANEY’s music is rooted in the struggles of everyday living and the redemption which is found in our lives. One motto serves as the definitive drive for this band-
"Life is a journey, a beautiful journey."

Rockbridge Church (www.rockbridgelife.com) in Cedar Park serves as the bands spiritual home base where they serve as the leaders of Praise and Worship every Sunday. They have additionally established themselves as a well place identity on the Austin city music scene, appearing at such noted venues as Momo's on 6th, Light Bar and Submerged. With ministry as its driving force, Chaney has become a regular on the Praise and Worship circuit at Austin area churches and coffee houses. Over the course of the past year, the band has shared the stage with such noted artists as Dutton Band, The Red Airplanes, and This Beautiful Republic, having made appearances on The Sound of The Son Tour. Chaney has also been instrumental in taking its musical ministry to larger audiences as a part of weekend retreats and college functions in the Dallas, Paris, Hamilton and Bedford areas of Texas.

The band is intent on taking its ministry to a greater level by branching out into its home state of Texas as well as travelling throughout the United States.

When asked to state the purpose of the band, Chad is eager to express- "It is our mission to share with others what God has done and continues to do in our day to day lives. We want others to hear the message of hope and redemption in all of our songs. Ultimately, we know how powerful music is, and we want ours to be used as a means to change lives."
