Dakoda was raised in Nashville, Tennessee. Dakoda fell in love with the art of music making music at seven years old. Paradox was born in urban Music City, a byproduct of Tony Sudekum housing projects. At an early age Paradox became aware of the social dissonance of his daily life.

Dakoda and Paradox met in 1998 and became part of their first music venture—the group Clique Tyte. Clique Tyte went on to record over 40 songs before splitting for creative differences. The group’s disbanding became the catalyst for the creation of Cipher. With this duo Dakoda and Paradox intended to deconstruct “bling era” rap and shift hip hop back to its more conscious roots. Cipher’s influence was felt along the eastern coast but was unsuccessful in changing the tide of mainstream rap.

It was at this point in their careers that Dakoda and Paradox felt a change was necessary. The pair decided to incorporate a live band and a name change as part of an image adjustment. This new approach to both their music and moniker --Chaotic Piece was key to their success among the competition. Chaotic Piece’s uniquely diverse style is a combination of observing various cultures and street life with a struggling and hustling mentality. "Sacrifice is what makes a man great, accept reality today, but change it
tomorrow, knowledge is power," says Paradox. Influenced by musical legends like Marvin Gaye, Billie Holiday, Stevie Wonder, Rakim, Tupac, Nina Simone, Nas, and a host of others Chaotic Piece accepted an unspoken charge to find a way back to musical genius, to the origins of hip hop.
