"CD Review: Chaparral "California Line""

"California Line," Chaparral (Chaparral) While some have derided new country music as being too rooted in pop, if it's balanced properly it can have more appeal and reach a larger audience. Visalia's Chaparral is able to pull it off with the catchy "Tomorrow's Another Day" and adding the twangy/humorous "Tequila In a Can." There's also a rock element on tracks such as "He Ain't the One" and the stellar "Shoulda Left Me." The alternating singing of Martina Otterbeck and Joseph Costa help make the balancing act work even if it's not always in the same song because distinguishes each track from another. It's no wonder Chaparral is developing a following having played at February's World Ag Expo in Tulare with Blake Shelton.
