The DJ stops playing, the lights turn off, the crowd starts to scream. It is December 11th 2009 at Patronaat in Haarlem (the Netherlands) and Chapter January starts to play. People start to pour in the venue because they came for this band.
They immediately start playing. The crowd starts dancing and sing along with their songs. With their beats, interludes, synths and their catchy yet sometimes heavy songs, they rise above all the metal and post rock bands that play tonight.
But who are Chapter January you might ask.
Mick - Lead vocals/guitar
Wijnand - Vocals/synths/samples
Marc - Guitar/backing vocals
Erwin - Bass
Guido - Drums
Chapter January started off as a duo project (2007) with a mission to reinvent pop music. After a couple of shows and a whole lot of beers later, CJ grew to a full on band even more determined to get their name out!
Making use of samples such as synth-lines and beats to enrich the pop-punk element, people tend to be pleasantly surprised about all the different influences incorporated to their music.
Now with a couple of big shows behind them such as, main stage Artquake Open Air, Patronaat and P60, they finished their first demo/EP which is released as a free download.
An energetic show, catchy riffs and bashing drums is the least you can expect from them.
