Bio
Charlotte Forbes is a sixteen-year-old singer/songwriter with a passion for all things musical. Though she is only a teen, Charlotte has worked tremendously hard to pave her way towards a career as a musician. This pop singer generally writes music that reflects her personality -fun, up-beat and energetic. Nonetheless, she also writes music that comes from the heart and delves into some of life's deepest meanings. Though her sound is entirely unique, it can be compared to other well-known pop artists, such as Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Kelly Clarkson. Her music appeals to a broad range of audience members, particularly youth; but what really catches the audience's attention is Charlotte's spark she captures while performing live.
Charlotte's been musically trained like a professional. She started playing the piano at the age of five and switched to the violin a year later. She enjoyed this instrument so much that she enrolled in classical training at the Vancouver Academy of Music. When her family moved to Calgary, Charlotte maintained a key interest for the violin and studied at the Mount Royal College of Music. She also participated in many performances and music festivals and even won a scholarship at the Kiwanis Music Festival. At the age of ten, Charlotte started to discover her voice and was offered the lead role of "Belle" in the school-wide production of Beauty and the Beast. From there, Charlotte decided to take singing seriously.
When her family moved back to Vancouver, Charlotte knew her commitment to music was life-lasting. While continuing to sing and play the violin as well as the piano, she enrolled in trombone lessons and viola lessons as well. As a singer, she was truly determined to bring her self-written songs to life and started recording at a professional studio in Vancouver. She started recording when she was thirteen, and after three years of consistent work, her album was released at the age of sixteen.
Charlotte is currently promoting her music by performing at local coffee shops around Vancouver. Other performances she has done around Vancouver include the 2010 Olympics Winterfest at Lonsdale Quay, the Presentation House Theatre, the J-Lounge, the IPE Youth Talent Competition, and Pub at the Club night. She is a regular performer at Granville Island, Vancouver, where she has done over 40 performances so far. Her song "Electricity" won Make a Star's December 2011 Female Artist competition and her
