Singer-songwriter, Charito Soriano, joined forces with Guitarist, Rowenalyn “FunkCH3N” Conlu on the date 10.10.10. Both Filipino-American women time-traveled into the present to share their unique musical journey filled with acoustical soul-liberating boundaries that are created in our life’s path of constant balance. Their live performance & music creates a timeless & relaxing journey -- playing their beautiful harmonic melodies about life, love, hip-hop, reggae, soul and everything in-between.

Charito Soriano grew up listening to her parents music; a mix of Filipino Crooners constantly played on casette tape– while also being influenced by America’s renowned female vocalists – such as Mariah Carey, Aaliyah, & Lauryn Hill. Through her teen years she continued singing in choral & jazz choirs, allowing her to follow jazz greats such as Billy Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald & Sarah Vaughn. This furthered her ability to create melodic trills that flow almost anywhere her soul leads it. Through college her voice had refined with touches of Neo-soul & Hip-Hop influences – often covering tracks by Erykah Badu & Jill Scott. Her voice ultimately melted into a multitude of soulful sounds.

Rowenalyn “FunkCH3N” Conlu honed her skills growing up on the island of Guam. She was raised on the music of 90’s alternative bands such as 311, Everclear, No Doubt, Smashing Pumpkins. Performing in vocational bands and being the youngest female guitarist in many local island bands, she was often the sought out musician on the tiny island. She moved to California in 1999 and further took her craft to another level by getting more into Reggae. Being more conscious about her music, Bob Marley, along with many other island, reggae, jazz, and neo-soul artists influenced her style creating an eclectic sound of her own.
Though Charito & FunkCH3N had separately honed their craft their entire lives, it was in their recent 2 years of being together that they have created a seamless flow that feels as if it had been crafted in lifetimes before this. When these two unique forms of light banded together.....they felt magic in their connection and could not be separated since.

In this current day, they share the stage with many of the Bay Area’s up and coming Hip-Hop, Jazz, Reggae, R&B, Soul, bands such as Feelosophy, Damage Kontrol, Jupiter 7, Aima the Dreamer, and SoTimeless; as well as some renowned artists, including Youtube artists Gabe Bondoc, Passion, & mainstream artists such as Zion I & Goapele.

Charito & FunkCH3N have a 3-song Demo of their original Acoustic Music. They are currently working on a 6-song EP which they plan to drop in the beginning of 2013.
