"Cheney writes and performs story songs about conflict and the choices people make during times of stress. He then roasts them over a driving alt.folk.alt.blues guitar and cuts them with a dose of wit and absurdist humor." -NE Indie - NE Indie
"Charlie Cheney plays gigs, writes songs, does voice-over work, recorded and released three CDs, wrote and produced a musical in Manhattan (to rave reviews in the Voice), and worked as a busboy at Chi-Chi's." -NoCover Magazine - NoCover Magazine
"The road to hell may be broad and straight, but the pathway to fame and fortune often meanders and wanders. Most people travel down it unawares, seeing delays as failure, but not Cheney. He kept plugging away at what he wanted to do - pursue his music." -Musicians Playground - Powers Music
Charlie Cheney's lyrics for his song "Friday Night at the Ice Cream Stand" is a finalist for JPF lyric of the year. - JPF

Bio
October tour scheduled with Pat MacDonald (Timbuk3)
Cheney songs are packed with visceral imagery and "inside the character" slang as he takes you on a behind-the-gloss nickel tour of the roadside diners and service stations that make up the new service economy. Cheney's credits also include 100s of performances on stage, TV, video and film. His musical Babes & Dudes was produced in Manhattan as part of the New York International Fringe Festival and his short stories and articles published nationwide. He's won prizes and impressive little trophies for his songs, video art, short stories, and skateboarding.
Cheney has driven to Alaska across 900 miles of gravel road, hitchhiked from Seattle to Chicago in 2 1/2 days, flown DHL for free just so they could use his luggage space, had his photo on the front page of newspapers, been interviewed for radio, TV, and print. He owns an over-sized soup whisk that he won simply by proving he could balance it on his nose for over a minute, no-handed.
He once jumped over two picnic tables on his bike, obtaining only minor injuries during the fourth attempt. He was unable to give his contest winning commencement speech in high school as he'd been expelled for "inappropriate use of the public address system". He's been called a "Happy Evil Genius" by more than one person on more than one occasion. He finds this both troubling and amusing.
Cheney has traveled and performed in over 20 countries and been to every state in the USA except Hawaii (primarily because he couldn't drive there). He once sold a guitar to have enough money to get in and out of Canada successfully. He has proven by example that he can change the tire of a car.
