And the weekend gets BETTER

I was downloading some music on a new site called eMusic.com (I received 50 free downloads with sign up). They hardly had any new music and Christian was even worse...so I just started looking at few artist that I had never heard of.

Charlie Dodrill is a BIG FAT SHINY Diamond, sitting in a pile called eMusic.com

Holy Crap...This guy is AWESOME. I listen to one song and want to hear it again, as soon as I go to click the media player and the next song comes on...it's even better! I am not even kidding. This is the best CD I have heard in a long time. He kind of reminds me of a cross between DMB and like a Pat Green/Charlie Robinson. Here is his MySpace page, there are a couple of tracks that will just start playing. What a blessing!

The best debut album I've ever heard. Fabulous lyrics!
Charlie performed @ my church recently, with just his guitar and voice. When I bought his album and listened I was blown away. What a voice . What music! what Lyrics! This is the best debut album I've ever heard. Buy it! You won't be disappointed.

Whoa!!!!
You’ve got to hear this guy!!! He’s not like anything out there in the Christian scene. It’s like the best of Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Jack Johnson, but with lyrics that really mean something. You’ve just got to hear it!

I LOVE this music!!!!
I've been listening to this CD virtually non-stop since I got it a couple of weeks ago (on my home computer, in the car, at the office, on my Ipod--I literally take it EVERYWHERE I go). I LOVE this music!! Incredible lyrics, an awesome voice...God has blessed Charlie with great talent and we are blessed that he's using that talent to create music like this. So, I'm back here today to buy more CDs...I want to share Charlie's music with my friends. :-)

Charlie has a great voice and his songs puts you in a comfy mood, he almost feels like a cousin to Paul Simon.

I love it!
I've listened over and over again to this CD. Will purchase another one to keep in the car. Can't wait for the next one to be released. You can tell these songs were written from the heart and by a true Christian.

Get more than one!
Leaves no doubt that God's book is not complete. Through Charlie Dodrill, He has inspired another moving chapter in the book of life. I keep coming back for more. I've bought 6 of these cd's so far and simply want to share them with people. The music is great and the lyrics are brilliant. Buy several of these because you'll want to give them away to friends and family.

Amazing!!!
I loved this CD!!! What an amazing voice Charlie has, and the lyrics he wrote are amazing! Everyone and anyone needs this CD!!!

Great CD! Charlie really hits home with his own personal struggles and the Gospel’s answers.
The music is fresh and clear. The sound is distinctive. The lyrics are honest and bold. I have never heard any other Christian artist sing about these things. Presenting God's true heart and purpose definitely comes through clearly on this cd. I can't recommend this highly enough!

Totally blessed!!
From the very first note one is totally hooked! You won't want to stop playing it over & over until the lyrics are well embedded in your brain!! Definitely and totally a blessing! You don't own it yet?? Well, don't wait a minute longer.. buy it now!!!!!!!!!!!

LOVE IT!! I'm buying one for everyone on my Christmas list!
Smart, real, worshipful, awesome!

Beautiful and original!
Charlie has a unique voice, both lyrically and vocally. His observations on life and faith are poetic and heartfelt, and uniquely stated. My favorite is definitely “Under the Impression” but “Even Close is just an absolute jaw-dropper.

Something New
Wow, How great to listen to an album that makes me feel something. Deep writing, cool vocals and one amazing recording.

Finally, some great Christian music!
I have been looking for some music that really moves me like this for awhile. My eclectic music tastes are not easily filled with most Christian music that I hear. Charlie’s music is off the hook!

Live!
I LOVE this album, but I like Charlie live even better!!!

Bio

Who knew a guitar on a mountaintop would be so useful? When Charlie Dodrill headed to Callao, Utah for two years of solitude, he took few possessions with him to the mountain cabin in the high desert between Utah and Nevada. While the situation might drive some inhabitants to distraction, it drove Charlie, who at the time knew five chords, to his guitar. Soon he was “accidentally” writing songs flowing from the longings and desires built into all of us. When he began actually putting them down on paper, they might have looked a little strange to anyone with musical knowledge. With no guitar training, his early writing included such chords as “smiley face" and "Triangle (still does this, actually)." He noticed that when he sang, parts of his heart that were not open in thinking and speaking, would blossom when letting emotion flow through music. Two years later as he was finishing his monastic experience in a rural corner of Missouri, he began sharing his music with others, at which time he learned that while his journey may have been unique, his songs were far more universal than he'd imagined. A friend coaxed him into a garage studio for an early recording session whose charmingly homemade quality did not deter the many friends who wanted to pass them along to others. Eventually he moved to Nashville and found himself playing in places like the Bluebird Café within a year of arriving. When a girl from Texas passed his CD’s along to the wife of producer, Steve Rosen, there began a conversation that became the first step in the creation of "Prologue to this Drama." The addition of gifted studio musicians like Dave Cleveland and Lisa Cochran and the mixing talents of Ben Fowler meant that this would be no ordinary first album. With lyrics which seek to discover the mortal life from the perspective of an immortal God, even in the midst of a broken world, the songs of "Prologue" have played equally well with "test audiences" in venues from colleges to churches to bars and on radio stations scattered through the U.S. and abroad. He’s taken “Prologue” on tour throughout the U.S. and is currently finishing up his sophomore project, “Eyes of the Exception,” with the usual studio suspects, but adding Dan Needham on drums, Scott Dente and acoustics, and Scat Springs on BGV’s. It’s a fun ride of an album, crossing genres, but still possessing rare depth without taking itself too seriously. Charlie recently signed with 3:16 records in Australia for distribution and promotion down under. A Magna Cum Laude graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan University, Charlie is a trained fine artist who graduated with a BA in painting and was a record breaking pole vaulter for four years. His fluent Spanish and work with street children led to a senior year spent in Montevideo, Uruguay and a post-graduate stint in Medallin, Colombia, the murder capital of the world. Since then he has traveled extensively throughout India and lived and worked in inner-city Kansas City and Jacksonville, FL. He currently lives in Nashville.
