Feeling a bit camera shy

Bio

Walk into a coffee shop on a given night and you will hear a powerful voice coming from the stage. As the song finishes one can only wonder how that voice comes out of the young shy person standing at the microphone. This is Charlie Duncan at his finest. At home on a stage sharing his life with what seems like his closest friends. One can only sit and listen as he plays through a set of passionate acoustic pop/rock songs reflecting on his latest life experiences.
Charlie began singing at an early age but had never thought about guitar his parents gave him one as an unexpected Christmas present. He soon began to write out basic songs and as years have gone by those songs have turned into the soundtrack of his life. “I’m usually using songwriting as a therapy for myself,” Charlie explains. “Any emotions that I’m feeling that I can’t say in words I put into my songs. It’s been an amazing way out for me throughout the past years.” Since moving away to Columbia, South Carolina to continue his studies in music, Charlie has been playing more often than ever. He has played churches, clubs, coffee houses, and bars including the famous Eddie’s Attic in Atlanta, Georgia, Jillian’s and Jammin’ Java in Columbia, South Carolina. Charlie has also had the privilege of opening for and sharing the stage with Eli, Kyler England, Ryan Horne, and Julie Lloyd. Highlights so far have included playing 93.5FM’s Locals Live Series, performing at The Green Dragon Pub in Manchester, UK, performing annually as part of the Sandy Springs Festival outside of Atlanta, GA, and being the only acoustic performer chosen for The University of South Carolina’s Battle of The Bands.
Now well over two years after releasing his first self produced CD, Charlie Duncan releases the latest chapter of his life, Change. “Change is pretty much about the transitions I’ve been through over the past few years, both musically and personally. I can look back and listen to older songs I’ve written and my writing style has changed drastically. Many of the songs were written just before or right after I moved to Columbia.” The songs filling Change revolve around heartache, saying goodbye, and above all being true to yourself.
