...former Austinian, Charlie Harrison and the Contraband. I enjoyed the set two weeks ago at the Velvet Lounge and it was another nice ride tonight. They were down to a four-piece with a missing guitarist. But Jackson Edwards of the WeatherVanes was again on hand to add some mandolin, vocals, harmonica, and this time around... more lead guitar. Harrison has the songs, lead vocals and plays acoustic guitar. His songs are solid, a bit on the C&W side, but the Austin side wins out and allows plenty of room for rock moves. - DC Rock Live

Bio
Charlie Harrison grew up in Texas and has been making music his whole life. As a littlekid he sang into coat closets. In junior high, he’d play the drums until the neighbors
called the cops. In high school he graduated to sneaking into bars to play open mics and listen to his idols – guys like Jerry Jeff Walker, Gary P. Nunn and Billy Joe Shaver. He eventually moved to Austin where he occasionally went to UT, but mainly played gigs across Texas with his friends.
In 2011, Charlie moved to DC and recorded nine songs that became his first album,“Overdue.”
Through acoustic gigs in the DC area, Charlie found a great group of local musicians who came together to form “Charlie and the Contraband.” The act was a fixture of some of Washington and Northern Virginia’s best music venues.
In 2012, Charlie returned to Texas and his hometown of Houston. He’s working on his second album and planning a supporting tour with the Contraband in the summer of 2013.
