Charlie Hope

BandPop

Charlie empowers children with song and sings about what is relevant to their life. A positive take on naptime, learning about the joys of having a new sibling & learning about the limitless possibilities we all have inside of us are all elements portrayed in Charlie's melodic, sing-able music.

Biography

Charlie Hope spent her childhood in Toronto and Boston harmonizing with her sister and in her school choirs. Charlie's fresh approach to children's music stems from the many years she has spent with children — from receiving her degree in Art Therapy with Children to the preschools and private homes where she was a trusted caregiver. Charlie believes that music is vital to a child’s overall well-being.

Her debut album I'M ME! garnered much critical praise. It was nominated for a JUNO Award and won Best Song and Best Album in the international Independent Music Awards. The follow-up, WORLD OF DREAMS, continued Charlie's tradition of respecting and reflecting the experiences of children, only this time in a soothing lullaby form.

Charlie's most recent release, SONGS, STORIES AND FRIENDS: LET'S GO PLAY! takes the listener on a journey to the playground with songs, verses and spoken word. Reviewer Lynne Heffley of The Parent's Choice Awards praises her "unforced sunny spirit and her youthful, sweet and clear-as-a-bell soprano," and Zooglobble's Stefan Shepherd describes the songs as "sparkly and joyful, with Hope's bright, clear voice carrying the tune." CoolMomPicks' Christina Refford says the album is "a must-have CD for any young child's CD collection."
SONGS, STORIES AND FRIENDS: LET'S GO PLAY! was also named one of the CoolMomPicks top albums of 2011, Laurie Berkner's top 8 albums of the year, a runner up in the Fids & Kamily top albums of the year and has also been recognized in Canada with a recent 2012 JUNO Award for Children's Album of the Year. And most recently Charlie's recent release has also won an international Independent Music Award for "Best Children's Album".

Charlie's music can be heard on XM Radio, Canada's Galaxy Kids' Stuff Radio, multiple commercial airlines' inflight entertainment, and various children's radio programs. The popular "Train Song" was featured on The Vinyl Cafe, heard on CBC Radio and NPR.

When not touring all corners of North America, Canadian singer-songwriter Charlie Hope resides in Seattle, Washington.

Lyrics

I'm Me!

Written By: Charlie Hope

If I road like a lion (roar)
Does it make me a lion?
If I hiss like a snake (hiss)
Does it make me a snake?
If I bark like a dog (ruff ruff)
Does it make me a dog?

No, no, no, no
I’m so much more than
You can see
I have life inside of me
That makes me move, feel and love
I can act a certain way
And do all sort of things but in the end
I’m me, I’m me, I’m me

If I moo like a cow (moo)
Does it make me a cow?
If I snort like a pig (oink oink)
Does it make me a pig?
If I meow like a cat (meow)
Does it make me a cat?

If I howl like a wolf (owww)
Does it make me a wolf?
If I neigh like a horse (neigh)
Does it make me a horse?
If I squeak like a mouse (squeak squeak)
Does it make me a mouse?

No, no, no, no
I’m so much more than
You can see
I have life inside of me
That makes me move, feel and love
I can act a certain way
And do all sorts of things but in the end
I’m me, I’m me, I’m me
I’m me, I’m me, I’m me
And just the way I want to be

New Baby

Written By: Charlie Hope

There’s big news
In my house today
My mom told me
She’s having a baby

There’s big news
For me today
I won’t be
The only one in my family

We’re having a baby
We’re having a baby
Yippie!

When you’re born
I’ll share my room with you
And I’ll sing the best songs
To sleep to

We’ll take a bath together
And we’ll search for
Underwater treasure

We’re having a baby
We’re having a baby
Yippie!

I’ll take your hand
When we cross the street
And I’ll teach you
What the colors of the lights mean

We’ll stay up late and cuddle together
And we’ll find
There’s nothing better

We’re having a baby
We’re having a baby
We’re having a baby
We’re having a baby
I can’t wait!

Frog Song

Written By: Charlie Hope

Well there were
5 frogs, 5 frogs, 5 frogs
sitting on a log, log, log
and they were eating toast with jam
all day

Wait, wait, wait
Frogs don’t eat toast with jam!

Ohhh, they were eating flies
With their sticky tongue all day
Until a lilly pad appeared
And they all began to cheer
And one frog, one frog, one frog
Went away

Well there were
4 frogs 4 frogs, 4 frogs
sitting on a log, log, log
and they were eating steamed carrots
all day

Wait, wait, wait
Frogs don’t eat steamed carrots!

Ohhh, they were eating flies
With their sticky tongues all day
Until a lilly pad appeared
And they all began to cheer
And one frog, one frog, one frog
Went away

Well there were
3 frogs, 3 frogs, 3 frogs
sitting on a log, log, log
and they were eating edamame
all day

wait, wait, wait
frogs don’t eat edamame!

Ohhh, they were eating flies
With their sticky tongues all day
Until a lilly pad appeared
And they all began to cheer
And one frog, one frog, one frog
Went away

Well there were
2 frogs, 2 frogs, 2 frogs
sitting on a log, log, log
and they were eating apple sauce
all day

wait, wait, wait
Frogs don’t eat applesauce!

Ohhh, they were eating flies
With their sticky tongues all day
Until a lilly pad appeared
And they all began to cheer
And one frog, one frog, one frog
Went away

Well there was 1 frog, 1 frog, 1 frog
Sitting on a log, log, log
And he was eating flies
With his sticky tongue all day

Wait, wait, wait
Oh, ya frogs do eat flies

Until a lily pad appeared
And they all together cheered
Because there were
5 frogs, 5 frogs, 5 frogs
eating flies with their sticky tongues
all day!

Train Song

Written By: Charlie Hope

I hear the train
In the distance
Whoo whoo!

I hear the train
Getting closer
Whoo whoo!
Whoo whoo!

And I can stomp my feet
To the beat of the train 1, 2
And I can pull my arm
To the beat of the train 1, 2
Whoo whoo
Whoo whoo

Chugga chugga….

I hear the train
Through the valley
Whoo whoo!

Chugga chugga..

I hear the train
Echo through the tunnel
Whoo whoo!
Whoo whoo!

And I can stomp my feet
To the beat of the train 1, 2
And I can pull my arm
To the beat of the train 1, 2
Whoo whoo
Whoo whoo

And I can clap my hands
To the beat of the train 1,2
And I can nod my head
To the beat of the train 1, 2
Whoo whoo
Whoo whoo
Whoo whoo
Whoo whoo

Chugga chugga chugga….

I Can!

Written By: Charlie Hope

I can wiggle my toes
I can wiggle my nose
I can shake my arms high
I can shake my arms low
I can twist myself from the front
To the side
Twirl around and find somewhere to hide

‘Cause my body can do everything
That I need it to
I can reach up high
Take a piece of the sky and
Bring it back to you
I have feet as fast as lightening bolts
In a storm
And I can think up any story
So come sit down and get ready

I can jump up and down
I can wiggle around
Turn in circles
And fall to the ground

I can sing up high
I can sing down low
I can sing with a friend
Together lets go

‘Cause my body can do everything
That I need it to
I can reach up high
Take a piece of the sky and
Bring it back to you
I have feet as fast as lightening bolts
In a storm
And I can think up any story
So come sit down and get ready

I can chew my food
With the teeth that I’ve grown
I can say, “all done, thank you”
To show that I’m full
I can use my voice
I can use my tone
‘Cause my body can show the way that I feel

‘Cause my body can do everything
That I need it to
I can reach up high
Take a piece of the sky and
Bring it back to you
I have feet as fast as lightening bolts
In a storm
And I can think up any story
So come sit down and get ready
I have feet as fast as lightening bolts
In a storm
And I can think up any story
So come sit down and get ready
