Biography

Charlie Solomon is in a category by himself. Hidden in the middle of Wisconsin, Charlie is producing a sound that his fans describe as "Raw, infectious, penetrating, enchanting, honest, and above all, beautiful."

It is difficult to describe why the words and music of Charlie Solomon are so full of experience and wisdom. Charlie's parents moved from New York to central Wisconsin before he was born. This set up a unique atmosphere for Charlie. While surrounded by the tame culture of the northwoods, Charlie grew up as an outsider, bathed by his father in the folk music of New York City. When asked about his musical influences Charlie smiles. "Bob Dylan changed my life. There have been plenty of other influences, but Dylan showed me that what you must do above all else is be true to yourself. What I learned from Bob is music should come from the unique soul of the artist, and that is what I strive for when writing and performing songs. I want every element of the music, the guitar, the vocals, and the words to express the uniqueness of who I am." Charlie’s music collectively tells a story, the story of his life.

Lyrics

Mistakes

Written By: Charlie Solomon

I hesitate to write this down
I fear I might not be able to hide it
I promise not to make a sound
Distant lies I've confided
Down on the ocean floor
Deeper still but I don't mind it
Buried in my soul
You can try but your not gonna find it

Chorus:
I've made mistakes You say
Thats OK I'm gonna love you anyway

I'd whisper in your ear
Not loud enough for you to take it
I'd write it in the sand
but before you saw the waves erased it
I wrote it in a book
But changed the names and marked it fiction
And sang it in a song
But out of key so that no one would listen.

Chorus

I find it hard to believe yet nevertheless I do
Impossible when I think about but I still know its true
Paint a picture write it in a letter tatoo it on your skin
If I said that it did not matter then I would be lying.

Now that I've shed my skin
Just like the snake brand new and shining
No more wandering
After forty years out in the desert smiling
Said Joshua to the crowd
Moses died but I'm not crying
Go grab your sword and sheild
We're almost home -there's no denying that
Ive made mistakes (Chorus)
