“I like your style. Your singing is strong, like you’ve really got some ovaries behind it.” - Spawn (musician)

“I came over to listen because I heard you playing those suspended chords and it sounded so intiguing, It wasn’t your good looks at all that got my attention.” - John (drummer) - -

“I’m surprised you’re playing like that and singing at the same time...you don’t sound like anybody” - Jim Femino - -

"Radio"

I know too well what you're singing about (I think, more or less, anybody's got to know it).

Peace and Love!

Bio

“You see things and ask ‘Why’; I dream things that never were and ask ‘Why not?’”
- George Bernard Shaw

Charmaine has been singing all her life and finally decided to accompany herself on guitar about ten years ago. Charmaine has developed an acoustic sound reminiscent of soul, blues, folk and funk. She has been likened to artists such as Jonatha Brooke and Ani DiFranco, but her influences range from Ella Fitzgerald to Jane's Addiction. While her guitar playing is interesting enough to stand on its own with intricately layered melody & rhythm combinations, it is often the powerfully smooth vocals and lyrics that fully engage audiences of all kinds. Her origins as a poet come through in concrete imagery and heavy-hearted lyrics that reveal wisdom beyond her years. Over the last three years she traveled in her camper, busking in cities across the U.S. Now she has re-immersed herself in her hometown of Philadelphia and looks forward to becoming a part of the lively and growing music scene there and playing regional festivals from the spring through the fall.
Charmaine also sings in the funk band The New Kings of Rhythm and is available for studio vocal recording situations.

Charmaine was "Artist of the Month" for the juried "Tough Act To Follow" Open Mic Contest.
