Bio
An American Singer Songwriter formed this group in the hills of Central Italy. Their songs take the edge from Rock, the curves of Jazz, and add the simplistic melodies and lyrics of Pop.
Biography: Chase Bell & White Licorish, an international Pop/Rock group, based in both Italy and the United States, is heavily influenced by Blues, Jazz and Pop music. CB & WL borrow the edge from Rock, the smooth curves of Jazz, and add the simplistic melodies and lyrics of Pop to bring their audience a unique feel and sound that connects the Italian countryside and the center of urban America.
Their first album, "SkyWords," brings you right into the studio to hear their originality and lively instrumentation. The songs were written by American songwriter Chase Bell while living in Italy and reflects the energy and presence of the many human emotions inside ourselves. White Licorish, made up of all Italian musicians and singers, took those songs and arranged them to be the robust and beautiful recordings they are now.
The songs were recorded in a studio tucked away in the hillsides of central Italy where an aura of majestic inspiration hangs freshly in the air, alongside scents of wild oregano. Each song off the album is influenced by a different feel and setting, emphasizing a particular instrumentation and approach to the message in the music.
Among the album highlights is the toned-down folk/songwriter song A Boy, which has been placed in the movie Life Inside Out a film being released in 2013. Another album single, Met Your Match, received over 100,000 votes on popular Italian radio station Radio Uno. It is a funk influenced song that gives space for the young pianist Manuel Magrini to show off his improv skills.
But each and every song on the album has a different improvised section showing off just how far a nine piece band can go and proving how talented each of the members of this band really are. Theirs is a unique sound that takes you to places deep inside as well as far away at the same time.
