Bio

------ Post CBL: In Montreal’s music scene, 2009, Stones and Feathers was a huge success. Chasing Bright Lights received amazing comments from the media and the music business. With press clippings and media coverage in stock, J-D decided to fly all the way to China in order to write a new album that will surpass the success of Stones and Feathers. The new album will be performed with a full band composed of various professionals, carefully chosen from Montreal’s music scene. Every member is ready to tour and do what it takes to make it in the music business. Chasing Bright Lights plans on releasing a new album in 2010 with a label that can offer promotion, touring, airplay and everything possible to give the project a push. In the winter of 2008, J-D traveled to the UK to play shows and promote his music under the name of Chasing Bright Lights. During his stay, he played music with Mickey Shine from the Happy Mondays and was inspired for his release, Stones and Feathers. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pre CBL Chasing Bright Lights started out in 2000 under the name of J-D. In his first music project, Jean-Daniel, played every instrument, namely drums, bass, guitar and vocals. He recorded himself in his parents’ basement in Montreal, Quebec. The album was distributed among his friends and became an instant success. In 2001, Jean-Daniel formed The Barricade Project (BP). The BP was Jean-Daniel’s second solo project and published one demo and two full-length releases. The first release was published independently and the second one was published with a Quebec-based label company called Mïjolk records. From 2001 to 2003, The Barricade Project toured twice and played in more than 45 shows. In its first tour, the Barricade Project partnered with the Victoria BC based band Andre’s Last Chance and covered Canada’s east coast in about a month. In its second tour, the BP traveled around Northeast United-States, notably around Lake Michigan, for two weeks with the band Self Made Man. While managing The Barricade Project, Jean-Daniel was active in a band called In the Broken Sound for which he played drums. In the Broken Sound released three albums and played over 30 shows while touring around the United-States’ Mid-West. From 2005 through 2007, Jean-Daniel’s acoustic project, the Barricade Project, evolved into A City For Kites, a more professional and mature sounding record. With A City for Kites, Jean-Daniel performed more than 10 shows in different Montreal venues, namely Café Chaos and Divan Orange. During that period, Jean-Daniel was asked to play guitar for The Diamond Sea. The Diamond Sea notably played shows with Montreal-based indie band Chinatown. A City for Kites has now become Chasing Bright Lights since 2008. To this date, J-D has released ten solo albums and many other band releases.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- REVIEWS: http://tounesetmusique.blogspot.com/2009/12/chasing-bright-lights-stones-feathers.html--------------------- "Beatlesish rock, great production" 3,5/5 nightlife magazine------------- Scope magazine: "Oasis and Bob Dylan fans, discover what's new!" ---------------------------
