Chasing the Ninth

"Then came what we’d all been waiting for, Chasing the Ninth. This band recently won Nova’s ‘I Am With The Band Competition’ and it’s not hard to see why. The band has a very contemporary sound, it’s as if it has taken the best aspects of the Soundwave Festival and brought them all together. Combining old school rock riffs, hardcore vocals and the obligatory dash of electro made for a potent mix, and the fans lapped it up eagerly. Vocalist Mike Carrivick is effectively two vocalists in one, as he can handle clean vocals as well as screamed ones. The two guitarists play well off each other and the electronics add some greater complexity to the rhythm section. None of this however detracts from the band’s songs, which hit like a jackhammer to the skull. Songs like new single ‘Tales Of Empathy‘ and ‘Maniacs With Hearts Of Gold’ will appeal to fans of hardcore and alternative alike. The band finished to a rapturous applause. Chasing the Ninth is going places."

"Their collaboration, although recent, brought a combination of extensive musical knowledge and talent. Something very rarely found in the ever growing number of new bands and hopeless wannabes. By the time the third song was being played, I was already sold.
