Bio

Chasing The Sun is an acoustic rock band from Lincoln NE. members includes singer and guitarist Jason Mayer, lead guitarist Mark Allison, bass guitarist Dustin Meyer, and Drummer Brad Van Boening. Formed in January 2010, Chasing The Sun is a relatively new band, but has already gained a local following with their mix of high energy rock and powerfully driven acoustic songs. The bands first studio album is full of songs stretching across the wide range of human emotions; from love to hate, and everything in between. It is due out in late 2011.

Although the band just recently formed, there is years of experience in the music industry among the members. Singer/songwriter Jason Mayer has been playing at local bars, talent shows, and festivals for years as a solo act on his acoustic guitar. Playing what would eventually become the songs on the band’s first album and perfecting the sound that he wanted to create. Lead guitarist Mark Allison also has experience playing in a band as he often toured with the band Midlife Crisis, another band local to the Lincoln-Omaha area. Drummer Brad Van Boening has many years of experience, previously in local bands such as Settle For Less(Which eventually became the Killigans), Fallen 77, Hinge Kit, and Beatmix Sessions. And bassist Dustin Meyer has years of performing experience on stage in local musicals.

All the members have been friends for years and have a noticeably great chemistry which has allowed them to accomplish a large amount in a short period of time. The band didn’t waste time getting shows as several venues around the Lincoln and Omaha area have played host to their music, Including Duggan’s Pub, The Bourbon Theatre, Knickerbockers, The Alley, W.C’s, The Waiting Room, and Sokol Underground, among others in the southeast Nebraska area.

As many bands are striving to find a new, fresh sound, Chasing The Sun seems to have found one of their own, which can be directly attributed to their fast-rising careers and increasingly growing fan base. With a wide variety of influences such as Ben Harper, Neil Young, Jack Johnson, The Beatles, Cross Canadian Ragweed, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and many more, Chasing The Sun has found a way to fuse these genres together to create a brand new sound that catches the attention of seemingly every person who hears it.

The bands love for music is unmatched by any other, as well as the drive to make it to the top. Countless hours each day are spent to ensure that the music being put out is the best quality and that as many people as possible get the chance to hear it. This is not likely to stop any time soon either as the band, not lacking in confidence or talent, is determined to be one of the greatest to ever come from this area. The drive does not come from money or fame but from the love of music and the desire to someday be mentioned amongst their heroes, and for the chance to share their message with the world and bring joy to fans everywhere with their music.

The success the band has achieved so far is only the beginning, but it was achieved by hard work, loyal fans, and the help from supporters who allowed the band to get their music out there to be heard. The band has had many accomplishments already in its brief history. They were selected by Last Call entertainment to be a part of a two-night Battle of the Bands with 10 local acts competing and won first prize, which included rewards such as the opening spots for the next several national acts coming to the Lincoln-Omaha area in the near future, and being put into consideration for an opening spot at last year’s River Riot. They also have begun headlining shows around the area and are starting to work with other up and coming local artists, such as Mooseknuckle, Tempo, The Perfect Strangers, The Escape Clause, Starla Dear, A Summer Better Than Yours, Soul Specimen, Matic Impulse, All My Friends Are Dinosaurs, Ideal Perception, Giant Rubber Shark, and Escape the Fire, as well as a few national acts including The Aaron Zimmer Band and The Pleasure Kills, among others.
