"Honesty"

Chauntae Pink was born in Brooklyn but grew up in Atlanta, Ga. Her musical up bringing began in high school. She sang in show choir in high school as well as doing a few musicals in college. She gracefully participated in church choir as well every Sunday. She loves singing praise and worship on the pulpit.

Her biggest musical influences are Bob Marley and Lauryn Hill. Chauntae’s favorite musicians currently are Hiatus, Kaiyote, Jack Garrett and BJ the Chicago Kid. She hasn’t collaborated with anyone yet but if she could choose anyone it would be Anderson Paak, Childish Gambino, and Chance the Rapper. Even though she’s been doing music a few months now it changes every time she gets into the booth to record. Chauntae is very expressive and believes in a broad taste in music. She doesn’t believe in sticking to one genre.

All of the lyrics in her songs are life experience based. She may embellish on the storyline from time to time because she loves drama, but for the most part her lyrics are autobiographical-like a diary.

Her dream venue to perform at would be Madison Square Garden. She believes a lot of great artists go unrecognized. “I think it’s just business, but there are some truly dynamic artists out there that go completely underrated and never get the shine they deserve in my opinion” she explained.

Chauntae started writing a little over a year ago during a bad breakup. Her parents have always supported her in whatever she wanted to do. She believes there is still room for improvement. “I’m definitely not the best ever, but I’m the only one that can do it like me. So I take pride in that” Chauntae stated.

Her delivery definitely comes from her theatre background. Always transformative, very expressive, she typically responds to the beats that resonate with her emotionally, the ones that tell a story. She differs from other artists because there is only one her. She speaks from the heart, from the mind and tries to connect to the outside world from a very honest place.

The most important item in her music collection is Bob Marley and the Wailers Natty Dread vinyl. Her dream collaboration is Lauryn Hill hands down. The last track he listened to was Marvin Gaye- Mercy Me. - Blkticketconcept

“I really wanted to create an anthem for black men, especially now, that felt just as powerful, as cool, as fun as they are to me,” she said. “I felt that a song like this one- celebrating black men for their strength, their beauty, and their swag- was absolutely necessary. The song means to empower black men and make them feel good about themselves, feel appreciated, feel loved.”
