Bio

As a Texas native, Chayla has graced stages all over Houston with her talents in music as a singer and dancer. Starting at age four, Chayla began training as a dancer, mastering several styles of dance. While attending a performance arts school, she used her acquired skills in dance and natural vocal ability to perform in local productions such as musical plays, national competitions, and pageants. At age 14, she made her first attempt as a recording artist in an all girl group, alongside her older sister and family friend. The trio was guided by former Rap-A-Lot producer, Lakewood, who taught the group fundamentals of performance and vocal training.
Just before graduating cum laude from Westside High School, Chayla was hired to dance for the WNBA Houston Comets for the 2006 season. While dancing for the Houston Comets, she also took part in other productions including a showcase produced by Herman, choreographer of recording artist Frankie J, and featured in music videos for upcoming recording artists. After two seasons with the Houston Comets, she went on to become a Houston Rockets Power Dancer. Making the prestigious dance team three years consecutively, she contributed choreography and performed at NBA home games and private appearances throughout the city of Houston.
In 2009, Chayla returned to the music, writing and choreographing R&B/ Pop tracks including her single, “Let Me See It,” which was featured on HOT TV five weeks in a row. She opened for platinum recording artist, Lil Flip, at a HOT TV concert event in January 2011, performing her hit single, “That’s My Baby.” Other singles released by Chayla and aired on live radio such as the Chris Black Show include the smooth and airy, “So New,” and an uptempo dance track, “Play Again.” In November 2011, Chayla was featured in the SWAGG Tour Houston stop which also featured G-Unit’s 40 Glocc. In 2012, her latest dance smash “Beat Monster” was featured in Kontrol Magazine’s photoshoot video with “Girlfriends” and “Are We There Yet” actress Keesha Sharp and also, JET Magazine "Beauty's of the Week".
Chayla is musically influenced by Michael and Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Brandy, and childhood friend’s older sister, Beyonce. Observing her hometown’s Destiny Child grow into a world-wide success was also an inspiration. Chayla believes that life is what you make it, and that God can change your life when you change your thinking. “I want people to hear my music and dance again-REALLY dance!,” states Chayla. “Not just booty shaking and ‘dropping it’, but moving like Michael and Janet back in the day when we would learn their choreography from the videos,” she adds. Chayla currently records at iMix studio in Houston, Tx.
