Bio

If you haven’t seen Check-Minus Live….then you haven’t lived! The first band signed to Omaha’s Dead Dog Entertainment, Check-Minus has been taking the town by storm! That is if by storm I mean misting lightly. Which is what I mean. So Check-Minus is fairly new, but is impressing crowds everywhere they go. Their story starts back in June of 2004 when they played their first show in front of 20 people at a little venue called “Perk Ave Café”. After rocking 20 people’s faces off and impressing Epitaph band “Scatter the Ashes”, Check-Minus had been introduced to the world! With their whirlwind of musical influences Check-Minus has integrated the lost art of the guitar solo in pop-punk music. Now before you go off and say, “Sum41”, think about this: They are American, not Canadian! After the success of the “Perk Ave” gig, Check-Minus looked to start a following and began playing regular shows at Omaha venues “The Rock”, “Rebels”, and the famous “Ranch Bowl”. It was then that Check-Minus had begun to get what is called in the music industry as “buzz”. Not wanting to stop the momentum Check-Minus competed in local radio station 89.7 The River’s “Punk Playoff” and finished a respectable fourth place, but had earned a headlining spot for December’s 89.7 the river Concert Series at Sokol Auditorium! But before the fellas could accept this invitation they had to honor the young people of Red Oak, IA and local legends AnchondO with a special road trip to Red Oak. This is where the legend began. It is said that when performing the encore Check-Minus guitarist Chris Minus jumped some 50 feet in the air while performing their smash hit “Don’t Thank Yourself”! No video footage has yet to surface of this amazing jump. After surviving Red Oak, IA, Check-Minus made it official: Sokol would be theirs on Dec. 1st! Along side Omaha band A.M. Mayhem, Check-Minus made Sokol Auditorium their own and performed the best show to date. Until now! This Saturday, January 29th Check-Minus is featured in Dead Dog Entertainment’s Launch Party with special guests My Raging Mind, A.M. Mayhem and Playing In Traffic! It’s all going down at the Rock in Papillion at 7:30pm for only $6! Not to mention…free Check-Minus swag at the door! Don’t miss it and look out for Check-Minus’ debut CD “MOM! You’re Ruining Punk Rock Practice”! this spring!
