Biography

Chelsea Nicole Pedro does not remember a time in her life when she was not singing. Born in 1981 in Fallbrook, California, Chelsea took advantage of every musical and theatrical opportunity she could, and began studying voice at the age of 8. She initially made the decision not to pursue music professionally in order to attain some other academic goals. After graduating from Western Washington University in under three years, and becoming a certified elementary school teacher, Chelsea continued to be encouraged by others to sing professionally. By this time she had acquired experience singing in nearly every type of venue, from providing the National Anthem for sporting events, to singing and directing musical programs in churches, competing in solo competitions at the California state level, playing the lead in musicals, and even hosting karaoke!

In 2002, Chelsea married Brendon Pedro, a soldier in the United States Army. They relocated to Wiesbaden, Germany in September of 2003, and Brendon was almost immediately sent to serve in Iraq. As a 22-year old newly-wed alone in a new country, Chelsea found comfort and joy in writing music and encouraging other military families with her talent. In April of 2004, Brendon’s division, the 1st Armored Division, became the first division in decades to be extended in a war zone for longer than a year. This was devastating for Chelsea, but it provided her the opportunity to see a life long dream come true. Out of this disappointment came “Soldier’s Girl”, an inspirational and powerful collection of original music, brought to life by the soaring musical arrangements of collaborator Jon Hemingway, and by Chelsea’s clear, uplifting vocals.

Though she writes from the perspective of a military wife, her music has the power to appeal to listeners of nearly every demographic group. She is currently in Germany, promoting her music and singing in various venues across the military community.

Lyrics

A Dream Worth Waking For

Written By: C. Pedro and J. Hemingway

Verse 1:
All of my life I dreamed of all the things that I could be,
That would fill the longing in my heart, make my life complete.
But every path I traveled seemed to leave me more confused,
Until I started down the road that led me right to you.
When all my vain ambition turns to dust on the road,
I want you to realize, I need you to know.

Chorus:
You are what my heart desires,
In the deepest part of me.
You are all I've waited for in my childhood fantasies.
When I see your face I know,
That now and till forever more,
Baby your the only dream I have worth waking for.

Verse 2:
Every little girl dreams someday she will meet a handsome prince, a fine white horse to sweep her off her feet.
You came to me with empty hands reaching out for mine,
And nothing could replace the love I see in your eyes.
I know sometimes that you feel like you just don't measure up,
But now that I have felt your kiss I just can't get enough.

Chorus

Bridge:
All that I've been searching for,
All I want to be,
The dream I've hidden in my soul is here,
In front of me.

Chorus

I'll Be Ok

Written By: C. Pedro and J. Hemingway

Verse 1:
I got the call today,
I thought that you'd be coming home to stay,
Another summer wondering when you'll be in my arms again.
As the tears stream down my face,
My heart falls to the floor.
I guess I'll have to stay strong, for just a little while more.

Chorus 1:
I'll be ok, the sun will keep rising,
I'll be ok, I'll keep on surviving,
No matter what I feel inside I'll say
That I'll be ok.

Verse 2:
When circumstances come and try and steal my joy,
It can be so easy to let myself fall.
But my hope is in my Savior, who gave his life in love.
And the blessing that He'll send my way will always be enough.

Chorus 2:
I'll be ok, the sun will keep rising,
I'll be ok, I'll keep on surviving,
I feel his love surround me everyday.
And I'll be ok.

Bridge:
How can I be discouraged when I know this is a part of your refining fire at work in my heart?

Chorus 2

Chorus 1

Legacy of Love

Written By: C. Pedro and J. Hemingway

Verse 1:
What will I have to give at the end of my days?
When my life is just a memory, what will people say?
I may not leave a symphony, or a mansion full of wealth,
But if I could leave this legacy, it would be enough.

Chorus 1:
A life full of compassion,
A heart that loved the truth.
A shoulder that was always there for you.
A gentle, quiet spirit filled with honesty and trust.
I pray that this will be, my legacy of love.

Verse 2:
He lived his life with honor, walked by faith alone,
He had no fame or fortune when heaven called him home.
He never wanted anyone to glorify his name,
But everyone who knew him, will never be the same.

Chorus 2:
A life full of compassion,
A heart that loved the truth.
A shoulder that was always there for you.
A gentle, quiet spirit filled with honesty and trust.
I know he's looking down to see his legacy of love.

Bridge:
Are you hoping, wishing, praying for the things that pass away?
When the greatest treasures are the souls you touch today.
