What are you waiting for? Rock it with the D!

About Tenacious D

Jack Black: There is no disputing the place of the mighty warrior JB in the halls of rock legend. 'Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny' follows JBs dramatic evolution from frustrated childhood prodigy in the town of Kickapoo to become the voice of the greatest band on earth. The world will never be the same.

Kyle Gass: KG or Kage completes the circle of The D. Seeing a spark of potential in Jables, he offers to take him under his wing and guide him in the ways of rock. As he directs his apprentice down the hard road of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll, it's inevitable that the two kings will combine forces to change the face of rock forever. - AcidPlanet.com

Prizes
The Grand Prize winner will receive a copy of ACID PRO 4.0, a copy of Steve Tibbetts' Loops for ACID loop library, and a copy of Steve Tibbetts ECM release "A Man About A Horse".

Here's how Steve puts together a track:

"Another approach is to record a solo guitar line or drum track and play different instruments to that track. On Monday I'll work out a 12-string line in E. Not listening to Monday's work on Tuesday I'll play a mandolin line in A to the same basic drum or vocal track. By Friday I'll have five tracks filled up and I'll finally listen to them all together and keep what works."

Sounds a lot like what you can do in ACID, n'est-ce pas? Take your creation, fly in random loops, see what works, progress…controlled chaos.

Despite his almost formalized Zen approach to composition, Steve emphasizes creativiy in music creation. He's intrigued by the creative process, and how artists free-up their minds to their muse. As Steve is judging this contest, you can bet he'll be listening to see how far you can take his music. He's got big ears—surprise him.

Here's your chance to seek out musical synchronicities with Steve Tibbetts. We're offering Black Temple from "A Man About a Horse." An ACID user from way back, Steve created the loops himself. What better way to get inside this master musician's mind than to hear how he parses his own creations? Need still more Steve? Then check out his new Loops for ACID Library, Steve Tibbetts, Friendly Fire: Premier Artist Construction Kit.

Bio

The music of Chemical Addiction is very personal and comes from deep within my soul, I translate 40 plus years of personal experiences from my life into my music, things that I have seen and done, future worlds, people that I have come across through the years. My music is not based on notes and training but on feeling, soul and state of mind. The music is a journey of my life, that is always going in new directions. My influences are many, Pink Floyd, George Clinton, ELO, Art of Noise, Kraftwerk, Toby Keith, James Brown, ABBA, The Crystal Method, BT, just to name a few. The music of Chemical Addiction is different from others because I am not a trained musician just someone that loves music and wanted to translate my personal experiences through sound. I was born in Nebraska raised in Florida, served in the Army in Germany during the 80's, went back to Florida in the 90's lived in Germany from 2002-2007 and reside in Palmetto, Florida now. I am a self taught musician that has always loved what is different and not the norm.
