Bio

Contemporary Christian Singers Dave and Beth Chenault chose to perform under their family name Chenault, not only because it is who they are, but because it is what they hope to do. “Chenault” is derived from the word “channel,” Dave explains. “So we thought: What could be more appropriate than using our own name as we strive to be a channel for the Holy Spirit in our lives each day?”
Dave and his wife Beth couldn’t imagine recording separate CD’s and having separate ministries. “Our lives are joined, so we wanted our ministries and our music to be joined together; but we wanted the songs we sang to reflect what we each felt individually,” says Dave. “To pull it all together we got a great producer we both trusted, went into the studio, and what you hear is what we got.”
Grammy-winning Third Day Producer Paul Ebersold produced Chenault’s debut album Something More. The tracks showcase Dave and Beth singing lead on five songs each. The music is honest, direct, and personable with infectious melodic hooks ranging in structure from prayerful simplicity to uplifting praise. Their sound is an extension of both Dave and Beth’s personalities with an innocence and trust in Beth’s delicate voice and a mature confidence in Dave’s powerful vocals that make for an interesting combination of contrasts.
Beth trained her voice singing in a traditional church choir and helped lead her high school choir to three National Championships while receiving honors as the State of Tennessee's "second seat soprano" all three of those years. Dave led praise music for one of the country’s largest church youth groups for eight years while also leading music for hundreds of church camps, retreats and worship meetings locally and across the nation. He became a lead singer for the Christian rock bands Disciple, Yasha, and Masterworks and also toured the world singing with one of the nation’s top evangelists.
It was the disappointment of a heart-wrenching divorce that made Dave feel God couldn’t use him anymore. Dave quit singing for several years before starting his own cover band. A strong songwriter, Dave’s passion to record his own music led to his forming Tydyl Wave, a secular rock band, whose debut single charted nationally on Radio & Records’ Hot AC.
“But, God had another plan for my life,” Dave explains. “Just as Tydyl Wave was heating up, I met my lovely wife Beth. Beth and her family helped me bring my focus back on Christ where it needed to be. We learned first-hand that God is the God of forgiveness and of second chances. That’s what Chenault sings about. We pray our music will, as a reflection of our hearts, serve this purpose. We are just two people who humbly pray God will continue to use our music despite our past mistakes and current struggles with sin every day.”
“We are willing to be transparent to show how God can lift people above their hurtful experiences and bring them to a point of endless gratitude,” Beth adds. “We live in a culture where people make painful mistakes looking for someone or something more to fill a need. We want our music to find those searching for truth and those needing support and strength for their daily challenges. People just like us.”
