Lyrics

Grace

Written By: Chenoah Lee

Everybody's got opinions
Everybody's got a plan
Some people try to tell you where you fit in
It's where they want for you to stand

Everybody's got a struggle
Anyone can lose their place
Everybody's got a secret
A pain that lies behind their gaze

Sometimes life can make you crazy
It can shake you to the core
Some will boost you with compassion
Some will show you to the door
To the door

Today I fall down in the mire
Tomorrow it might be your turn
But it's no matter what may happen
So many chances just to learn

Sometimes life can make you crazy
It can shake you to the core
Some will boost you with compassion
Some will show you to the door
To the door

But everybody wants to be loved
Regardless of what's on their face
And if you knew about their stories
You'd know we all just live by grace

Get There

Written By: Chenoah Lee

No matter where you stand
She left hours ago
You can hide out in your camp
And just let her go

You can cry in your coffee
You can whip like the wind
Until it burns you
Or cuts your skin

Heard it said
Know it's true
It takes a hold of you

Heard it said
Love's a plan
Get there as fast as you can

Let it go
You don't know
What it's really gonna do

Stay and fight
every night
Trouble waits there for you

Heard it said
Love's a plan
Get there as fast as you can

Heard it said
Love's a plan
Get there as fast as you can

Heard it said
Love's a plan
Get there as fast as you can

Heard it said
Love's a plan
Get there as fast as you can
Get there as fast as you can

Fast

Written By: Chenoah Lee

You had me believing
I could do anything
Anything I want

You told me in secret
I could be anyone
Anyone at all

But why did I feel like
Trapped in your shadow
Why did I feel so small?

The truth is what you skirt
Love like yours doesn't last
You use every word to hurt
You're too careless, reckless, fast

You live like a coward
Always on fire
Always on the run

You lick at your fingers
A player, a liar
Like a wolf with a gun

Walking your heartbreak
A user for hire
You hit and then you're done

The truth is what you skirt
Love like yours doesn't last
You use every word to hurt
You're too careless, reckless, fast

Fog

Written By: Chenoah Lee

I grew up outside the city
Farmland was my backyard
Nothing in the world's as pretty
The sun burns down, then shoots the stars

Today I found a trunk in the attic
Filled with visions cloaked as clothes
Letters buried at the bottom
With tattered edges from long ago

I close my eyes
And wave away these memories
They're all around me
Thick as fog

My grandpa wore an overcoat
And he smelled just like the rain
He left us before the New Year
But his coat still smells the same

I would rise up in the morning
To find the dew had fallen down
Remember stories from his telling
With his coat wrapped all around

I close my eyes
And wave away these memories
They're all around me
Thick as fog

In the summer in the evening
You could catch out on the wind
Scent of mornings long since leaving
And of places I've never been

They buried him up on the mountain
Left no marker by his grave
Let him go back to the dust
Out of where we all once came

I close my eyes
And wave away these memories
They're all around me
Thick as fog

I close my eyes
And wave away these memories
They're all around me
Thick as fog

True North

Written By: Chenoah Lee

I'm leavin', I'm leavin' Sara, he said
Gotta find my own way, otherwise I'm dead
On my feet, no rhythm for the beat
In my head, In my head

I packed the only things I own
A leather suitcase and the weight of my bones
I got up early before you rose
To save us both the things we already know
Like goodbye, it was a good try
Now I see I just have to go
Find my true north
My true north
My true north

Sara was eighteen and it was no big surprise
His baby was hidden behind her eyes
And it rained day and night
Til Sara decided to stay and fight
Go to a place, a place inside
Locate the compass and the pulse of her life
Find her true north
Her true north
Her true north

He walked the railroad
He followed the Chicago track
With a leather bound suitcase
Strapped to his back
He said, this, this is my last chance
My daddy's leavin' and I want him, I want him to have
His true north
His true north
His true north

It drives me crazy
To watch the world spin around
Seems like someone is always stuck
In lost or found

Without a name and without a town
Without a true north, nowhere bound
A true north
A true north
A true north

You need a true north
You need a true north
You need a true north

You need a true north
You need a true north
You need a true north

You need a true north
You need a true north
You need a true north
