"Reggae Renaissance"

Then came Cherine Anderson, who closed the show, literally surrounded by children, teenagers, adult females and elder gentlemen who simply would not let her go. Even after Cherine was finished performing, and they knew the show was over, a large majority of the audience remained in the park, savouring every last minute of the patriotic feel that was permeating all present.

"Concert Review - Hollywood Bowl -Reggae Series"

"Cherine Anderson had the full package, with an amazing voice and stage presence. She came out with "Redemption Song" and pretty much killed it through the remainder of the set. Is she a star yet?"

-Martin Wong - Giantrobot.com

"Concert Review - STING Reggae Festival (Miami)"

"Michael Franti and Spearhead"

"Anderson (Cherine) has released a number of singles in her native country, including a song that should've been a huge hit in the U.S., "Cookie." Her voice is one that doesn't have to be super strong or bold to make an impact, but when she does reach a deep moment in the song, it's all her."

-John Book - Okayplayer.com

"Cherine Anderson spreads her funky and soulful sound from Jamaica to America"

"Michael Franti and Spearhead’s supporters are left in awe this year watching Cherine Anderson open for them. Her powerful vocals can be compared to that of Lauryn Hill. She has already established herself as the dancehall diva in Jamaica, and now she is becoming one to watch in America. "

-Lauren Smith - Collegenews.com

"Playlist Rewind: Counting Crows at the Borgata"

"Vocalist Cherine (Anderson) is a particular star-in-the-making. A Jamaican who is about to turn a mere 25, Anderson has the voice, the look, and the stage presence to be a real breakout performer."

- The Phyllist

"Cherine Anderson"

Cherine Anderson – First Jamaican Female Singer On The Billboard Rock Charts? Maybe but one things for sure she (Cherine) was the first Jamaican woman to walk out on the stage of the 2009 Aspen Jazz Festival in Snowmass Colorado and whip the crowd into a frenzy into less than 30 seconds!"

- Lewis Cooper - Gonzoshots.com

"'Night on Tracks' delivered gold"

"Anderson unleashed a stirring performance of her latest hit Real Love as well as staples like Talk If You Talking. Dressed in a shimmering blue sequinned dress... Jamaica's newest international star strutted across the stage like the veteran she really is and brought great energy to the night."

CHERINE

In our modern day parade of glamour, glitz and unmerited superstardom, Cherine has taken today’s road less traveled; the path of paying dues, cultivating her abilities and developing her signature Dancehall Soul sound; a mixture of reggae, dancehall, soul, pop, rock and R&B. Cherine has become one of Jamaica’s leading young female singer/songwriters and performers. Her genre defying grooves coupled with her powerful voice and thought provoking lyrics has brought her in front of well over 1,000,000 live audience fans. With a growing army of supporters, who she affectionately calls her “dancehall-SOULdiers”, she has steadily toured in places such as Jamaica, Europe, Canada, Australia and the USA.

Cherine’s commanding yet soulful voice coupled with her high energy live performances helped to place her on arena tours and renown festivals worldwide as both an opening and support act for alternative bands like Michael Franti & Spearhead, International rock stars John Mayer and Counting Crows to name a few. She has also toured with, and is endorsed by legendary drummer Sly Dunbar (Sly & Robbie) who hails her as “the real deal. A truly strong vocalist on hardcore riddims with the ability and potential to surpass reggae audiences to reach the masses.”

The east Kingston bred native is a constant and consistent positive representative of Jamaica; from penning and directing chart topping videos for her inspirational songs such as “Eagles & Doves”, “How We Living”, “Kingston State of Mind” and “Shine On Jamaica”, to a stand out performance at the Inaugural Green Ball and Peace Ball during Barack Obama’s Presidential Inauguration, high energy performance at the World Games Special Olympics to reaching the Billboard charts.  Cherine has made numerous appearances on television programs in Jamaica, Norway, France, Australia and the United States including The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and The Ellen DeGeneres Show and twice appeared on the award winning local show Profile with Ian Boyne.

Cherine is the first Jamaican female artist to hit the Billboard Rock Charts featured on the song “Say Hey, I Love You” with Michael Franti & Spearhead. The song simultaneously peaked six Billboard charts and was placed on the soundtrack of numerous films and TV commercials including the EA 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Music Soundtrack. She dominated both local and international reggae charts with her smash hit single “Shine on Jamaica” from her critically acclaimed EP The Introduction-Dubstyle EP. “Shine On Jamaica” peaked at # 1 for four weeks on both the NY Reggae Charts and South Florida reggae charts. The EP also produced reggae hits such as “Talk If Yuh Talking” and “Kingston State of Mind”. “Shine On Jamaica” was also featured on the 2011 Grammy nominated album for Sly & Robbie “One Pop Reggae”.

Coupled with the success of dominating both dancehall and reggae charts; she has also been tapped for an array of A-list philanthropic projects. Cherine updated her spokesperson repertoire by agreeing to support Yoplait & Jamaica Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Campaign since 2010, raising over $3.5 million JMD to benefit breast cancer victims. She was also aligned with the United Nations-backed “Way Out Project,” an initiative to end violence and endorse gender equality, which is run jointly by the UN and the Bureau of Women’s Affairs. Additionally, the Reach One Child “R.O.C” Foundation, which she co-founded in 2005 with manager Patrick Lindsay, remains committed to providing mentorship and motivational programs as well as need based scholarships to youths in Jamaica.

Cherine believes that she has a responsibility to the future and chooses to “pay it forward” through programs such as The ROC School Tour, Y.E.S.S (Youth Empowering Self & Society) and ROC Kids’ Festival, a flagship fundraising cultural and action children festival which gathers musicians, educators, students and children activists.

Determined to keep following her light, Cherine continues to evolve as a woman, entrepreneur and an entertainer, ever poised for new heights. Cherine is in the final stages of completing her first full length album with legendary producers Sly & Robbie, Dean Fraser and David Norland in collaboration with 20 Six Music Group. Not one for hype and extravagance, she has surrounded herself with a solid team who has guided her over the last few years and are ready to help her showcase her music to rest of the world. Cherine says, “Making music is like food to my soul. It’s powerful, it inspires, it heals…I hope people feel inspired when they experience my music too.”
