Smooth vocals with soul to spare is what you get when Chero Michel takes the stage. This performer holds nothing back with her intricate riffs, never losing her sweet, supple tone that sets her apart as one of the most captivating performers to hit the independent scene.
Chero Michel's singing career began in 2003 doing shows in Milwaukee. But she developed her stage presence as a trained dancer, performing hundreds of shows in Miami, Milwaukee, Las Vegas and New York . Singing live exceeded the joy of dance and the audience response led her to release her self-produced EP "Meant to Be" in 2003. Shortly after the release she moved to LA and began doing shows after just three weeks. Performing at venues like Genghis Cohen, The Joint, and 14 Below,she quickly began to build her following. This compelled her to write and record as much as possible.
Chero Michel's style, a blend of R&B, contemporary jazz, and hip hop stems from her appreciation for many genres of music. Her honey-coated vocals are as sophisticated as India Irie and her hook-laden dance songs are as infectious and fun as Gwen Stefani's, making her versatile enough to open for an act as edgy as Erykha Badu or as energetic as The Roots. "I like tailoring my sets to the venues I play. I may perform with my band, a dj and dancers or just my guitarist. having that versatility keeps it fresh."
Chero Michel has completed her second EP titled "Come Back" which is set for release in the summer of 2006. The EP contains her signature love songs as well as more upbeat dance tracks. With a theme about love and lost, some of the tracks are heart wrenching and some will make you get out of your seat.
With talent, beauty, and an incredibly generous heart, Chero Michel is an artist who is determined to keep her spirit intact while touching as many people as she can. I'm gonna tour the world because I need to share my music with everyone. I want people to reach over and turn up the volume when my songs come on. If they dont truly love the music then Im not doing my job.
