After moving to Seattle from Chicago in 1994, Cheryl Serio immersed herself in the local music scene, pursuing a career inspired by the classic musicals she watched on TV as a child. Her newly released second CD pays tribute to that era with such well-executed classics as "Old Devil Moon," "Goin' Out of My Head" and "Teach Me Tonight," which she performs beautifully. "In the Name of Love" opens with the instrumental strains of Paul McCartney's "Live and Let Die" before blossoming into a kind of personal anthem. Serio adds a note of humor to many songs but otherwise performs these favorites with reverence. (Gene Stout)

Cheryl’s musical allegiances were forged at an early age. As a kid, Cheryl spent hours and hours watching old movies on a little black and white TV in her bedroom. She especially loved the classic musicals of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, Gene Kelly and Frank Sinatra.
She longed to put on a top hat and sing in the rain- from here to eternity! Just like her movie idols.
In 1994, she left her Sweet Home Chicago and moved to Seattle where her music career has been thriving ever since.
Concerts, nightclubs and special events punctuate this consummate performer’s career.

She has also enjoyed bringing her act to NYC, Vancouver, BC and Los Angeles.
The spirit of her live shows was first captured on her 2000 debut recording, Dames. Letting her strut her vocal stuff over a colorful variety of styles, Dames includes the bass trombone stomp of Shaking the Blues Away, the breezy bongo swing of The Good Life and her very own interpretation of Lady Is a Tramp.
Cheryl tears down the wall that separates jazz, pop and cabaret with the release of her highly anticipated second CD It Had Better Be Tonight. Liberating listeners from bourgeois ballads, It Had Better Be Tonight is musical manifesto that upholds the tenets of Henry Mancini, Leiber and Stoller, Sammy Cahn and Burton Lane. Cheryl marshals the sonic charge flanked by a five piece horn squadron, powerful rhythm section and high flying vibes. The album unloads its hard swinging payload on such tunes as the urban soundscape blast of Big City, the funky razzle dazzle of Old Devil Moon and the post-apocalyptic bongo driven fantasy of 13 Men.
Cabaret is another facet in her versatile career. Dames! - A Salute to the Sexy, Sassy Dames in Film keeps alive the spirit of the fabulous femmes of films from the 1930s through 1950s. Based on her recording of the same name, Dames has enjoyed several successful runs in Seattle. With the favorite co-star Marcus Wolland, she created the racy ride through the pop music landscape - Risqué Bizness. Taking a hilarious look at the suggestive side of music, Risqué Bizness features songs from Ruth Wallis, Barry Manilow, Tina Turner, AC/DC and The Rolling Stones, to name a few!!
Drawing upon her improv comedy background, she produces and performs in comedy Murder Mysteries for Wild Bills Interactive Events. She also has provided voice over talent for many commercials and two popular PlayStation 2 video games - RAD and Grandia X.
Cheryl is a Master Scuba Diver and a vegetarian. Her favorite cocktail is a Manhattan. She has an encyclopedic knowledge of The Brady Bunch, loves The Beatles and The History Channel.
