Stop The Violence is Great, I couldn't be still! Lyrics, A-1.............I have not yet purchased the CD but the clips are telling. I like the one song best. - Jackie

"If you have an ounce of soul in your body , you cannot help but be moved by"

Every now and then a song comes along that literally stops me in my tracks and reminds me just how important music is as a part of my life. One of those moments came late last year when I first heard "TRAVELIN' ON" from The Chestnut Brothers. This song has it all, a beautiful flowing melody, soulful vocals and thought provoking lyrics with real meaning.
Think The Blackbyds at their best cutting a gospel track. Yeah, it really is that good. If you have an ounce of soul in your body, you cannot help but be moved by this song. - Andy Lothian (

"Wanting More"

I had the privilege of hearing a song that I just had to have on Sirius Praise 68 one Monday night with Fred Mills. I called in to find out who the artist was because my signal got loss. No luck. Today, I heard it again, wrote down the artist and song while pumping gas between 1 & 2 pm (C). The song 'Travelin On' by The Chestnut Brothers. Searching for the cd on the net via and found the cd 'Peace Suite'. Now I'm wanting to hear more of this CD. 'Travelin On' stands alone for me to make the purchase. - R. Keys (San Antonio, TX)

"Chestnut Brothers sing to"

"Stop The Violence" (Evolution Remix) is the blazing new single by The Chestnut Brothers. Their passion for social change has always been clearly reflected in the music they have been actively promoting with their world peace agenda and this third incarnation of their theme song is a masterpiece. Produced by Leroy Romans, the groove percolates with an island flavor that is fresh and innovative. Featuring Nisha (granddaughter of reggae icon Bob Marley) and D-Tek, a rapper with a conscious flow, creates a Philly/Miami/Jamaica connection that is quite infectious. Available for download soon. - Chris Rizik - Soul Tracks

There are not many artists who know their music, but, The Chestnut Brothers sure do! Their music encompasses an interesting mix of R&B, Gospel, Jazz, Blues, Latin and Reggae influences, with carefully crafted lyrics that hit the RIGHT spot. Recognized worldwide as goodwill ambassadors, “Stop The Violence” (Evolution Remix) is yet, another passionate example of their continued effort for CHANGE we all want !

Much love and blessings
Always, Lady M.

listen out for 2008...

• The Chestnut Brothers - RetroSoul / John Legend - Evolver / Maysa - Metamorphosis

If I thought the previous three records were good, then they really were the appetizer for the main course, which ought to make the 'which record should I buy for my friend this Christmas'? question, answered completely! Al & Ty Chestnut are a very talented singing, songwriting, production team. Born in Columbia, South Carolina and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, they came on the scene, in the U.K. way back in 1990, with their double header 45 'Whole Lotta You In Me' / 'Hey Sweet Lady', and proceeded to release a couple of albums throughout the Nineties and into the Millennium, with this release, entitled 'RetroSoul', arriving on these shores in 2008. Those who bought the previous mini album hailed the song 'Travelin' On' as one of the great Soul songs in recent years. Is there anything as good on the new set? Well, yes there is! The song 'Choose Your Destiny' will be one of my two top melodies this year. The other being Lalah Hathaway's majestic 'That Was Then'. When the Chestnuts hit form, boy do they hit form. 'Destiny' is pure optimism and the song had me motionless when I first heard the track. Mid tempo in a 'Galveston Bay' vibe, and this is why I love this music so much. If I had my way, this would be prescribed as an antidote to all of the bad news that is around at this time. Wall to wall repeats on daytime radio. The rest of the album, even without this track is very strong. 'Mountain Of Love' is a gorgeous song, as is 'Come To Me' and 'Not Ready For Love'. If you only have a slight passing interest in Soul Music, you HAVE to have this album for 'Choose Your Destiny'. Immense, essential, unmissable and downright wonderful. Put that in your pipe and smoke it! LOL.
...check digstation for copies...
Note: The Chestnut Brothers have advised me that the album will be ready for retail on, or around, November the 4th. There were some typo issues with the sleevenotes, that's all. You should check their own website, CD Baby, Amazon and iTunes for copies after that time.
