Bio

A Brief History

Chet O’Keefe has been described by the Daily Hampshire Gazette as “Captivating … Enchanting … a master of the story song … Chet has the ability to bring you into his world from the first word.”

For years Chet played the blues, backing Bo Diddley, and opening for the likes of Peter Wolf of the J. Geils Band, Magic Sam, and many others.

After years of playing and living the blues, Chet turned his attention to songwriting, and emerged as the winner of an East Coast songwriting contest sponsored by Martin guitars and WRSI (Northampton MA), voted one of Rolling Stone’s Top-10 Best Radio Stations.

This prompted Chet to move to Nashville where he has been playing and writing for the last four and a half years; he continues to impress with his singing, songwriting, and guitar sensibility, playing regular gigs around town.

The Band as We Know It

From these Nashville solo gigs, “The Farmer’s Co-Op” Band took form, featuring veteran Nashville picker Suzie Monick on banjo, mandolin and squeezebox (she’s played with Townes Van Zandt, Nancy Griffith and the Grateful Dead), Jimmie McEachern on stand up bass (Los Lonely Boys), Jordan Burris on 2nd guitar and vocals (mountain stage performer) and Chet on vocals and lead guitar.

The band’s musical style could be described as a blend of Americana, country blues, and Appalachian mountain music.

The band continues to gain momentum and a fan base in the Southeast, focusing on Festivals and out of town appearances this spring and summer. A new album is also in the works. We look forward to meeting you and sharing the music.
