The Chicago Cy Trio was the first to get their "Mojo Working" across from the Omni Hotel, followed by some "Keb Moe" featuring Cy's finger action on the six string. "Chicago" Cy aptly opened the show with his warmth and playing of tunes from his live CD, recorded at Poes Pub. His enthusiasm and hard working ethic create a bluesman the caliper of blues legends of the past". - Richmond Blues Society

"Chicago Cy Headlines Chester Fest"

This year’s Chester Fest promises to bring an eclectic mix of music, sure to please any of the thousands of attendees expected to show up throughout the day.

And that’s only from one band.

Marking their first return to the festival since its first year in 2001, Chicago Cy will once again take the stage, covering songs ranging from those released in the 20s and 30s up until more present day chart- toppers, as well as a few original creations thrown into the mix.

Chicago Cy has gone through a few member changes, while still keeping their same sound. Forming their current lineup in 2006, Chicago Cy now includes Taggart on guitar and vocals, Chester native Tim Stanton on bass and vocals, and Tom Lenahan on drums and vocals.

“We are a very vocal group,” says Taggart. “There are a lot of songs where all three of us are harmonizing; we even sing some of the missing horn parts in some of our swing songs.”

Serving primarily as a cover band, Chicago Cy performs it all, from Louie Armstrong, the Beatles, and the Doors to Elvis, Frank Sinatra, and Green Day, and everything in between. However, don’t come expecting just the standard cover song.

“We do a lot of covers, but we call them uncovers,” says Taggart. “A lot of times, we change the groove and the beat, but keep the integrity of the song. For example, we might do ‘Let it Be’ with a reggae beat. We just like to twist the songs in our own way.”

Bio

The Chicago Cy Band is based out of Richmond VA. We are regulars at some of the top clubs, resturants and festivals in town. With 100+ shows per year since 2005 we are an extremely tight trio both instrumentally and vocally. Our vocal arrangements set us apart from the average. We vocalize horn parts, backround strings, to help fill the sound out. A frequent comment we get is how full the band sounds for a trio. We can play acoustic or electric, solo, duo with percussion, or trio.
We cover many styles of popular American music.
Lean toward Americana Swing, Jazz, Rock'n Roll, Funk, Blues, of the 30's-60's and beyond
Armstrong to Allmans, Basie to Beatles, Coltrane to Clapton, Dylan to Doors,
Ellington to Elvis, Fogerty to Frampton, Garcia to Green Day , Holly to Hendrix, Johnson to Jordan, King to Kinks, Lessor to Lennon, Miles to Marley,
Porter to Prine, Sinatra to Santana, Waller to Wills, Zappa to ?.

There really is something for everyone in a Chicago Cy show.
