Bio
The 31 years-old Chico Correa was born in Bahias state and has lived in João Pessoa since 1995.
Since 2008, he left Cabruera to dedicate himself to his own music... In 2009 he never play so much. During last Carnaval he plays in Salvador with two project including one trio electrico in homage to Ramiro Musotto (with Lucas Santana, Bahiana system etc...). After that he stayed in Europe for Electro da Paraiba project with Chico Cesar.
In 2010 he will finish a first solo CDs (with a lot of special guest ?). Chico is prolific and has a very good experimental nordestin electro set.
In 2005/2006 he produced two Cds: One about the famous band : Cabruera "Sons da Paraíba" and the release of his own band "Chico Correa & Electronic Band".
Chico Correa & Electronic Band's project uses lots of electronic music-loops but also has a complete band section, their repertoire ranging from completely organic tracks (no overdubs) to fully edited/processed stuff. The result is a blend of public domain lyrics, (using well-known melodies from the two brazillian states Paraíba and Pernambuco's folk music), eletronic music concepts and jamming with singers, saxophone players, an afrobrazilian percussion set and a rock power trio.
When performing without his band, he is known as Chico Correa Live PA, building his sets from improvising with electronic loops, using step sequencers, midi overdubs and samples from organic grooves and brazilian roots-melodies. His history of live-acts includes playing at raves and electronic music festivals.
When DJing, he is known for playing old sambas, carimbós, forrós and other kinds of brazilian popular music.
As a producer, he has worked on film-soundtracks, commercials and documentaries. His music and the remixes he has done for other musicians were released in Europe and Japan.
