Born out of the ashes of We Were All Made In China, Graeme, Jed, George and Luke have returned with a better name, a more polished sound and some fantastic new songs as China Rats.
Debut track ‘To Be Like I’ has influence of The Smiths present throughout but there is also a powerful, contrasting Beach Boys inspired 50s/60s surf vibe, especially in the harmonies.
The shimmering guitar carries the short track whilst a mid song bluesy guitar solo impressively breaks things up, effectively adding a rockier edge to a fairly poppy song, without being self indulgent.
This is an upbeat, summery track with big contagious riffs and a fantastically simple chorus that will surely bring light to the dark nights. - Croon

China Rats are a four piece rock 'n' roll band from Leeds, inspired by a love of punk rock, 50's pop and classic British guitar bands. Formed in 2011 and already being championed by Alan Raw (BBC Introducing in West Yorkshire) and Huw Stevens (BBC Radio 1), the band is comprised of four friends who met while studying in Leeds.
