Stay with Me

Written By: chip roop . aMare

6 a.m.
a stranger wakes me
new city, new place
same scenery
same blank face

i startle to notice the time has changed
closer to home, closer to fame
escaped from LA
longing for day

a piece of mind
a welcome change
another machine
takes me away

stay with me tonite
even if it’s only for a little while.
keep your mouth shut
it’s your best advice
with a look you give me
the love light in your eyes

9 a.m.
preparing for flight
another model city
another night
it’s different now
there’s a sunrise

i startle to notice what could be a sign
closer to home, closer to why
i’m running from fame
longing for time

a piece of you
a staring eye
another distance
I’m a afraid to try

stay with me tonite
even if it’s only for a little while
keep your mouth shut
it’s your best advice
with a look you give me
the love light in your eyes

momma never said it would be like this. thousands of lips but never a kiss.
until I prove my simple worth. I need advice. maybe I need a girl.

I startle to notice what could be a sign,
closer to heaven, closer to flight
fame be my destiny if that’s in my design.
I drop my head, accept and sigh,
another city – don’t ask me why. don’t you ask me.

to stay with me tonite
even if it’s only for a little while
keep your mouth shut
it’s your best advice
with a look you give me
the love light in your eyes.

Follow Your Heart

Written By: Colonel Robbins/Chip Roop

I don't know just what I see
I don't know just what it might be
But in spite of every little thing
Could you imagine me....
Melting inside your precious hands
Taking you to never-never land
Excuse me but may I have this dance?
Don't let the moment pass.

[Chorus]
Let's shoot like stars thru the sky
See how high we can fly
Hold your breath and jump in
No one knows how soon it might end.

Let's up and go, it's don't take to much, a night on the town - just because.
Go somewhere we've never been, take a chance on love.
How 'bout dancing in the streets, to the sound of our heartbeats.
Here today, and gone too fast -
Don't let the moment pass.

[Chorus]

[Bridge]
It could all be over,
before it ever starts.
No time to think it through,
Just follow your heart.

[Chorus]

Obsession

Written By: Chip Roop

I’ve got obsession
For this high
Days turn to nights
I don’t see time go by

Lost in a world
With no hand to grab
Look at me now
Flat on my back

Look at the nights I spend awake,
Every day seems so gray, if I wake up at all, that is.
Hey la, hey la, what have I been doing wrong?
I seem to find my peace, in my obsession.

So can you break me?
Maybe make me?
I think this is when,
Justifying will begin.

Now I’m in the backseat
In this neverending ride
Lost all the truth,
Now caught up in denial

Look at the nights I spend awake,
Every day seems so gray, if I wake up at all, that is.
Hey la, hey la, what have I been doing wrong?
I seem to find my peace, in my obsession.

Breaking down
Out of touch
You’ll never find me
I need no crutch

I’ll strive and survive
In a world that is gone
Pick up the pieces
Find where I belong

I’ve got obsession
But who cares
I never knew how dark it was
Deep down in here.

Always in the backseat
Of this never ending ride
Days turned to nights
and my life passes me by

Look at the nights I spend awake,
Every day seems so gray, if I wake up at all, that is.
Hey la, hey la, what have I been doing wrong?
I seem to find my peace, in my obsession.

Set List

My typical original setlist can be from 10-30 songs, very easily, depending on the audience and venue. I play 30 minute to 4 hour sets very often.

When playing covers, I play everything from Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing to Sam Cooke's Bring it on Home to REM's End of the World to, yes, Michael Jackson's Billie Jean. All depending on the crowd and mood.
