Tanzanian by way of Senegal, Chi is a nomadic songstress who makes music as diverse as her upbringing. A self-titled “Neo-Soul Revolutionary,” Chi seamlessly blends her lyrical styling with soul, R&B, old-school blues and rock, fearlessly expressing her equally multi-faceted soul.

From the tender age of 3 with eyes glued to MTV, Chi could sense the magic music held - saying what we could not and making us feel like nothing before or after it. After learning to play piano, Chi began writing at 13 and forever wanting to expand her musical horizon; she picked up a guitar in search of new sounds and emotions and has never looked back.

Chi began her performance journey braving the streets of Liverpool and earned her way up to playing at festivals such as the legendary Brouhaha International Street Festival and Oxjam Music Festival in Liverpool, the SoundCity Urban Blast Festival and featuring several times on BBC Radio. Back home in Tanzania, Chi has become a familiar voice in the local scene, playing for Moët and Hennessy Artistry events, and even opening for South African acts Bucie and Black Motion. When she isn’t busy being the entertainment at events such as Tanzanian supermodel Flaviana Matata’s wedding, Chi still finds the time to hold regular slots at Slow Leopard’s Unplugged, Lyricist Lounge and Triniti Bar here in Dar es Salaam.

Currently collaborating and constantly evolving, nothing fulfils Chi more than the energy and intimacy of live performance. She treasures this and her wanderlust, stating “no matter where I tread in life, a song is bound to come out.”
