"Kerf Music"

In the few years following Chloe Albert's graduation from the music program at Edmonton's Grant MacEwen College, she was kept busy piecing her debut album track by track, line by line, fitting in the writing, recording, arranging and producing in between life and work. This comes across when listening to her first recording, a beautiful gem she calls 'Dedicated State': it is clear that this is a woman who crafts her songs thoughtfully, writes the narratives as a storyteller would, taking her time to piece it together just right.

I don't know how many times, while listening to the songs on the album, that I have to remind myself that this is but her first album; her voice is so soulful, there's a maturity and confidence to her singing that makes you think this is say, maybe a fourth or fifth album from a seasoned performer. Her voice is front and centre on this album, with some lovely clean production on this pop / folk / jazz tinged recording. If this is Chloe Albert's starting point, I am so very excited to hear where she'll go from here. A voice and songwriter to reckon with! - Kerf Music

"CD Review"

"...this is a relaxed and carefully composed folk album with a quiet pop sensibility that shines through in songs like 'Firelight' and 'That'll Be The Day'
-Matthew Hubert - See Magazine

"iTunes reviews"

1) This one of those albums you can just 'leave on'... you don't have to worry about a rotten song coming and ruining the mood.. because there are none! Just great laid back soulful tunes.

I would describe her as Bonnie Raitt meets Sarah MacLachlan with a little Tracy Chapman thrown in. 5 Stars!!

2)Have to say this is one of the most delightful sounds I have heard in a while. She has great presence and wonderful lyrics. A true Canadian hidden gem, look forward to her future projects. - iTunes

"Wow!"

"Wow, this girl can sing!"

"CDBaby album reviews"

Dedicated State
It' s been years since an artist has captivated my musical soul the way Chloe has done. I can't stop playing her music. It's in my car, in my computer, in my stereo, and I catch myself humming away to her melodies. This is a true work of art. And kudos to the musicians on this CD. World class!!

Congratulations Chloe - you're a force to be reckoned with - your music has touched my heart at a very deep level and I'm a better person for it.

Dedicated listener!
I heard Chloe on CBC - immediately my ears piqued, and I had to find her music - enter CD Baby. This album is soulful, relaxed and incredibly easy to listen to - very artfully and tastefully orchestrated instrumentals, and silky vocals - well done!! - cdbaby

Bio

2014 JUNO Nominee Chloe Albert is well on her way to becoming acquainted with the rest of Canada one song at a time. Her independently released debut album 'Dedicated State' garnered the attention of the Canadian Folk Music Awards, where Chloe took home the 'Emerging Artist of the Year' Award in 2008. Since then, the record has had continuous radio play on CBC Radio 2 across Canada, charted charted #1 on numerous indie radio charts across North America, and even been requested by folk rocker Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo himself, during a live co-host broadcast with CBC Radio. Chloe's songwriting has been recognized in recent years by the Calgary Folk Music Festival Songwriting Contest, where she took home 2nd place prize for her song 'Honey Bee', and also by Nashville's 'East Side Music Festival' songwriting contest, where Chloe landed as a top three finalist for her soulful ballad 'Tightrope'.

"An insightful songwriter, and soulful vocalist, she engages her audiences with rare warmth and honesty" - Lionel Rault, CKUA Radio

Albert is a multi-instrumentalist, having most recently played all of the percussion on 'The Engadine Sessions: Come To The Mountain' album -a compilation album, written an recorded when Juno Award Winner Suzie Vinnick, Cara Luft, Kat Danser, Cori Brewster, Karla Anderson, and Chloe Albert were put together to collaborate and record at Mount Engadine Lodge in May of 2012.

This June, Chloe's highly anticipated sophomore album 'Dream Catcher' was released, and has already been tagged a 'soon to be Canadian Classic' by Edmontonians. Within weeks of its release to radio, it was sitting in CKUA's 'Hot Box' among the radio DJ's favourite albums. It was the #1 MOST PLAYED ALBUM OF 2013 at CKUA radio, #1 on CKDU in Halifax, and #5 in all of Canada on the Folk/Roots/Blues charts alongside Steve Earle and Ian Tyson. Most recently 'Dream Catcher' was nominated for a JUNO Award for 'Adult Contemporary Album of The Year'.  Exciting stuff!!
