"Ch!nch!lla - As If You Don't Know"

New York City has officially given birth to an electro-funk baby that goes by the name of Ch!nch!lla. Combining electronica, funk, reggae, dance, rock and hip-hop, the band delivers a high-energy/DJ inspired sound with heavy emphasis on melodic improvisation and experimentation. From rich, reggae inspired bass lines to production techniques that bring me back to my LCD Soundsystem days, you can definitely tell from their music the vast variety of Ch!nch!lla’s influences.

The band, who already has 2 EPs out, has just recently released their latest single, “As If You Don’t Know.” Warning you all now, these guys have soul, and their sound is contagious. Don’t be surprised if you catch yourself walking down the street, singing along with Zach. Remember their name–though with a name like Ch!nch!lla, it won’t be hard to forget! - HeavyRoc Music

"Ch!nch!lla - "Top Hat""

I won’t sit here and wonder why Ch!nch!lla decided to use “!” over the more generally accepted “i”.

I’ll just enjoy it. - Digital Outhouse

"Local Sounds 2k12 - Ch!nch!lla"

"The band’s mix of live instrumentation and electronic programming blends together seamlessly, like STS9 without the wank factor, or Phoenix if they were more sonically adventurous."

Bio

The view of the midtown skyline from a hazy NYU high-rise dorm sets the backdrop for the formation of Ch!nch!lla. Combining electronica, funk, reggae, dance, rock and hip-hop, the band delivers a high-energy, DJ inspired sound with heavy emphasis on melodic improvisation and experimentation. Production guru Zachariah Goldschmiedt takes cues from artists like Ratatat, Flying Lotus, and LCD Soundsystem, while bassist Liam Mellor lays down deep pocket Jam-influenced bass bombs. Guitarist Adam November draws from a wide sonic palette influenced by John Scofield, Hendrix, and John Butler, and Dillon Treacy rounds out the band, masterfully holding down the back end with his drum wizardry. The band just released their second EP on Half Green Records, "Providence" and are following up with extensive Winter plans, including new videos and a Northeast run. Hope you like what you're hearing....we're certainly having fun.
