Bio
Chocolate Soup was born in February 2003 when Tess and Kim met at a hostel in Amsterdam. The girls busked their way across Europe and fed off abnormal amounts of chocolate soup, aka stolen hot chocolate. Kim, who at the time lived in Toronto, flew all her goods out to Vancouver to embark on a musical adventure. Tess and Kim started writing original material and performing it as a duo at various open mic nights. The band evolved with several temporary members. Eventually a lucky phone call introduced Jake to the Chocolate Soup line-up in February 2004. In August of the same year, as the Soup's bassist was preparing to head out east for school, Cary was found skanking at a Chocolate Soup gig, and history was made. Influences range from the Chili Peppers to No Doubt, Sublime to the Eric Truffaz Quartet, and many bands in between. Chocolate Soup experiments with and mixes all their favourite music resulting in a common style that suits all members. The foursome exudes an energy that can get a crowd moving. The music is fun and the band truely enjoys themselves...and it shows during their performance.
