"The Benefits of Having a Go-To Producer"

Having a go-to is essential. Recently I’ve been sitting with a couple of producers and building out my sound. It’s way different from finding dudes on the internet. You get to craft alternative flows, hooks, and ad-libs. It’s a game changer. Also, a lot of people don’t cherish the ability to secure their stems. If you have the stems from beats being mixed with vocal stems, you have the ability to make every song sound like an album cut. Ultimately, having a nice working relationship and personal relationship makes it possible. You can create a signature sound that way too. - Swidlife

"Ashes EP Review"

It’s finally here. After much anticipation, DC artist Chris Allen unleashes his brand new EP “Ashes.” Clocking in at 4-tracks in length, Chris causally came through on this one and dropped gems throughout the entire track list, leaving a strong impression on not only me but the rest of his many listeners. Having spent the last year and a half refining his sound, the production on this tape was extremely consistent all the way through, and Chris took advantage of that as he picked the pockets of each of the provided beats perfectly. At face value, the tape is a collection of bangers that any listener can rock with, but further, it’s a captivating account of the life that the rising star has lived to tell the tale. Check out the full EP down below. - Swidlife

"Recap & Poll: King Of The Burgh Champions by BMW"

Chris Allen came on first & set the bar so damn high. From what I recall he wasn’t rapping over his lyrics (Sick of hearing artists do that), he wasn’t screaming at me (sick of that too) the energy was there, the lyrics were there the crowd interaction was there. He came with a mind set to give that show his all & as they say “He left it all out there” (corny I know but it fits go with it). So salute to Chris Allen I look forward to hearing some of your music & featuring you on the site as well. - Brain of BMW

"CBC hosts Student Faculty Music Showcase"

However, Allen seemed to be the real star of the evening. Rapping two songs, the crowd went wild. Hailing from Washington, Allen has brought to the Morgantown community a familiar rap style last heard in the ‘90s. Packing his songs with emotion and clever verses, Allen created an exciting, lively setting. WVU seniors Jayshawn Thomas and Chelsey Franklin raved about Allen’s performance.
“I really enjoyed Chris Allen,” Thomas said. “He got the crowd so hype.” - THE DAILY ATHENAEUM

"[MIXTAPE] HOME: VOLUME 1 - CHRIS ALLEN"

Rapper, singer, and songwriter Chris Allen hails from Southeast Washington, DC and is fresh off the release of his newest mixtape. Home: Volume 1 has created quite the buzz for Chris including a 'College of Music Freshman of the Year' nomination and for good reason. This tape is quality music from front to back. I'm really excited to watch this young, east-coast emcee grow and progress throughout his career. - Upcoming Hip-Hop
