"Chris Jehnert Welcome to the Hollow - QReviews"

I’ve had this song playing a lot while driving these days. It’s a great highway traveling song. Volume up! As a fan of alt-rock and alt-pop, Chris Jehnert’s upcoming single ‘Welcome to the Hollow’ is a great example of how well a blend of those genres can work together. It steps outside the sometimes predictable patterns of music to offer an evolved view on pop/rock. There is also the extra added bonus of 80’s classic rock elements that are infused in the track giving it a dash of throwback quality.

‘Hollow’ is a great vehicle that clearly displays Chris Jehnert’s talent as an artist. The track provides a fantastic entry point for his audience to get to know him and his musical direction. ‘Hollow’s’ chorus provides it with moments of mystery that give it a slight otherworldly essence. This makes it the kind of song perfect for so many of the popular television series currently airing. I can hear ‘Welcome to the Hollow’ playing on “Riverdale”, “Sabrina” or even “Arrow”. Its emotional range gives it the opportunity for broad mass appeal.

Chris Jehnert has definitely tapped into something strong. He’s connecting with a vibe and style that completely works here. It evokes that radio friendly popular familiarity but still manages to define itself as something unique. And that kind of breadth will no doubt draw interest from a wide and diverse listening population.

This is just the start of Chris Jehnert’s new adventure. I think it’s going to be big and bold and we’re super pumped to have court side seats to watch it all unfold! - Q Reviews

"Alt Rocker Chris Jehnert Drops "I Love You to Death""

Chris Jehnert has done it all as a performer, including acting for national TV channels, performing alongside Broadway stars, and touring the world as part of a boy band, but his rise into the alt-rock scene should not be overlooked. Today, Chris Jehnert drops "I Love You To Death", a stadium rock earworm that is as dark and morbid as it is catchy. "I Love You to Death" is about having an unhealthy obsession with someone and believing it's love.

On the record, Jehnert says, "The song speaks in equating loving someone so much to the point of your demise. In this particular song, I wrote it from the viewpoint of a couple of the fans I've met. Some of which have expressed certain things to me verbally, through letters, or through gifts that influenced the lyrics. I tried to put myself in the mindset of having such an obsession with someone that I would literally die for them, even if they have no idea of how I feel and completely don't reciprocate the feeling. Or in some instances, are a complete stranger." Toxic fandom is an issue not nearly discussed enough in the music industry, and "I Love You To Death" perfectly tackles that issue.

From an early age, Chris Jehnert has been singing, dancing, and acting. Born and raised in Baltimore with a vocal performance degree from CCBC Essex, Jehnert started his career performing in eight productions at Disney World, alongside world-class actors like Jennifer Hudson and Kristin Chenoweth. After leaving the parks Chris began working regionally in the musical theatre realm, touring with the Concert Anniversary Tour of "Hairspray" before settling in New York City. Chris is a member of "Larger Than Life: The Ultimate Boy Band Tribute" and has traveled around the world performing in their concerts alongside Lance Bass, Joey Fatone, Jeff Timmons, Aaron Carter and many more!

He also is heavily involved in film and TV, with his most recent film premiering on Lifetime TV Network in 2021, and many other features can be seen across streaming platforms. He starred as the lead role in the Streamy-nominated series "Disposable Teens". Now Chris is hitting the studio/stage with what he always intended, his original music. He has many exciting live performances ahead of him, including Delaware Pride in October, 2021. - Broadway World

Remember this name: Chris Jehnert. Yes, you have probably already seen him performing on television, Disney World, as part of a boy-band, he has modeled, worked in the theatre and more. Yes, but catchy, likely to give the listener an earworm as the song definitely has great hooks and an important message.

The song is about an unhealthy obsession with a love interest and believing it is real love. Chris says, “The song speaks in equating loving someone so much to the point of your demise. In this particular song, I wrote it from the viewpoint of a couple of the fans I’ve met. Some of which have expressed certain things to me verbally, through letters, or through gifts that influenced the lyrics. "Chris Jehnert scores on synth-based single, "I Love You To Death""

Part of his newest EP titled Chapter One: The Hollow, we’ve quickly fallen head over heels in love with Chris Jehnert’s “I Love You To Death”. Read on for our full featured review of the single, as well as a background on this talented artist.

Synths soaring everywhere and Chris Jehnert’s vocals taking center stage, we suppose you could consider us massive fans of his freshly released single, “I Love You To Death”. For those not familiar with the work of this artist, he’s putting together instantly catchy music that spans a whole lot of different genres, but with a signature touch that is very much breaking the mold from those making similar tunes. Needless to say, you’re going to love this one.

On the background of “I Love You To Death”, the song’s message is actually surrounding a topic that doesn’t get nearly enough attention as it should; toxic fandom. According to Chris, ““I Love You to Death” is about having an unhealthy obsession with someone and believing it’s love. The song speaks in equating loving someone so much to the point of your demise. In this particular song, I wrote it from the viewpoint of a couple of the fans I’ve met. Some of which have expressed certain things to me verbally, through letters, or through gifts that influenced the lyrics”.

As a growing artist and someone who is obviously making desirable music like Chris Jehnert, the unfortunate consequence is attracting those who take things a bit too far. As much as musicians or celebrities can be idolized, they’re really just people like everyone else. The unfortunate circumstance of it all can be detrimental to the artist, but thankfully, he’s taken a tricky message and managed to manufacture a song that can hopefully stop the act in its tracks. It absolutely helps that the message can be made out clear within the single, especially because Chris’ silky vocals help make it loud and clear.

Speaking directly on the instrumentation and putting the message aside for just a moment, we couldn’t help but be roped in immediately by the swirling sounds and pulsating bass. As serious of a song that it actually is, it surely helps that once you’re done digesting the message, you can vibe out to the track no problem. We obviously loved this song, and we’re going to recommend you listen, but remember that it’s part of an EP, so check that out too!

All in all though, we need to make it clear that Chris Jehnert is 100% an artist you should keep your eyes peeled for. If you haven’t started listening yet, what are you waiting for? Click on all the important links below where you can listen and follow along for more! - We Write About Music

"Chris Jehnert - The Hollow EP"

Chris Jehnert is an artist who has done it all: acted in Lifetime Network films; toured internationally with the boy-band Larger Than Life; performed with Broadway stars. And now he’s released his debut EP Chapter One: The Hollow. With songs like ‘Ghost’, ‘Raise The Dead’, and ‘I Love You To Death’, there is a clear thematic element in this Halloween-appropriate EP. Following his first single ‘Welcome To The Hollow’ (which garnered over 100,000 streams), this EP dives deeper into Jehnert’s psyche with subjects of love, loss, isolation, and obsession. Chris Jehnert may look like a boy-band heart-throb, but Chapter One: The Hollow cements him as a true artist capable of emotional depth, one that is not afraid to access the darker and scarier parts of his being.

Chris Jehnert describes his debut release as a metaphor for his internal feelings and relationships, with the Hollow “being a cold and empty place that people are drawn to and trapped in.” Each track explores a different aspect of Jehnert’s world. ‘Welcome To The Hollow’, the most commercially accessible number, is a rock anthem warning listeners that he may be emotionally unavailable, equating himself to a dark and empty hollow. ‘Fine’, a ballad, tells of feeling left behind and stuck in unrequited love. The next song, ‘Ghost’, is a metaphor for ghosting in a relationship, and describes a scenario where Jehnert was unfairly accused of “ghosting” someone after ending a fling. Dark and creepy, ‘Raise The Dead’ talks about “resurrecting” an old affair and makes the case that some things are meant to be left buried. Finally, the standout ‘I Love You To Death’ is a synth-heavy alt-pop jam about fandom as a dangerous obsession. Chris Jehnert is no stranger to dealing with fans, some of whom have been borderline stalkerish, and he writes his closing number from the point of view of one such fan.

Chris Jehnert’s spine-tingling debut EP ‘Chapter One: The Hollow’ is a tremendous introduction to an artist that shows no sign of slowing down. Jehnert subverts all expectations of himself as a former Broadway/ Boy Band singer with a gritty, alt-rock sound and a thematic arc drawing inspiration from bands like Muse, Tool, and Mariana’s Trench. Jehnert is unafraid to delve into the deepest depths of his soul, and explore uncomfortable topics like loss, obsession, and heartbreak. Having just performed at Delaware Pride and with new films slated to premiere soon, Jehnert shows no sign of stopping his upward trajectory. Keep an eye out for this artist, and listen to his morbidly fun rock opera Chapter One: The Hollow to get you in the mood for Halloween! Who knows what he will be up to next? After all, this is only “Chapter One”. - Square One Magazine
