Bio
Growing up in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Chris learned to play and sing in churches, while ingesting a steady diet of early 70’s Folk, Punk Rock, and Wilco. His faith and love for music becoming inseparably interwoven, his personal writing plays out like heartfelt, jagged prayers. Sonically self-described as “The Lumineers meeting early Phil Wickam, with a splash of brass,” Chris feels just as comfortable playing in a living room as he does a theatre.
Since releasing his first EP, “Age to Age” in the summer of 2014, he has been featured in Worship Leader magazine’s Song Discovery top 12, Noisetrade’s New and Notable in Christian & Gospel, along with garnering a substantial Spotify presence. Relocating to Nashville in late 2015, he began working on his follow-up EP “Chris Renzema & the New Nature Choir”, which was released April 8, 2016, followed by a Midwest tour in support.
