Biography

Chris Sanchez is an island roaming, guitar slinging storyteller from Texas that has taken root in the Carolinas.

The Chris Sanchez brand of music is a fusion of Blues, Folk/Rock and Alt. Country that connects to people and excites audiences through songs that are fun, eclectic and relatable. Chris' recordings are currently being played on several internet radio stations, 106.5 The End - Charlotte - and world wide on SiriusXM radio.

Chris' passion for exploring and adventure come through in every performance and are heard in every song. The characters come from very real places. Chris has made it his business to see as much as possible and to experience all that life has to offer. From his days as an off-shore fisherman to a certifiable vagabond, Chris has traveled from coast to coast and over oceans wide to gather the stories that are now the songs heard at every show. Chris has found a musical home and a host of top notch musicians in the Carolinas. Helping with the heavy lifting at shows is a jumping rhythm section, tasty guitar and a sultry saxophone.

Chris brings the songwriting, guitar and vocals to the table with sincerity, skill, and honesty. An accomplished blues player and balladeer, Chris brings you the soul with electric and slide guitar along with warm and groovy tones from his Martin night after night. Sanchez has found an ever evolving sound that borrows from every corner of the musical spectrum to create something exciting and new yet warm and familiar.

The Sanchez sound began to form while Chris "cut his teeth" playing Blues, Rock, and Indie/Alt. Country in West Texas then later in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Austin, the Texas Hill Country and surrounding areas in venues large and small. Chris later spent three years in the Cayman Islands, soaking up stories, rhymes, and rhythm that profoundly impacted his songwriting and style. Chris' genre bending style further developed while traveling and performing from New York to Florida, Havana, Cuba to California and finally home to the Carolinas.

The Chris Sanchez Band has shared the stage with numerous national acts such as Sister Hazel, Chelsea Bain, Ted Nugent, Styx, Survivor and REO Speedwagon and has performed at venues such as Verizon Wireless Amphitheater (Charlotte, NC), the NASCAR Coca Cola 600 Speed Street Music Festival, The Double Door Inn, the National Whitewater Center, Amos' Southend, the Visulite Theater as well as numerous festivals, concerts and clubs.

A large and loyal following has gathered and exciting things have been happening for the folk rocker with a bluesy vibe. Along with airplay on national radio at 106.5 "The End" and SiriusXM, the Chris Sanchez Band has been nominated for "Rock Band of the Year" (2012) as well as "Best Folk Artist" (2012) by the Charlotte Music Awards society and has been doing shows to packed houses in Charlotte, NC and surrounding areas including but not limited to Raleigh, NC, Durham, NC, Greenville, SC, Charleston, SC, Isle of Palms, and Hilton Head Island.

"Hold tight and hang loose" - Sanchez is looking forward to seeing you and your friends at a show and to playing in your town!

Mercy of Me

There's a rain coming down on me
There's a picture that I don't want to see
A long white dress and your wedding bells
A lonely place I don't want to be
I put myself at the mercy of me

A poet's pencil paints a picture on the way
To some forgotten truth and reason, I'm afraid to say
Why so often it happens to me
Love withers away
My fickle friend; it's a sad, sunny day

There's a shadow down the hall
It's floating on the wall
I turn the corner, I can clearly see
And I quietly recognize all of the reasons to apologize
I put myself at the mercy of me

There's a rain coming down on me
There's a picture, baby, that I don't want to see
A long white dress and your wedding bells
I'm sowing the same old seed
I put myself at the mercy of me
I put myself at the mercy of me

Long Way to Nashville

LONG WAY TO NASHVILLE BLUES

It's a long way to Nashville on the back seat of this hound
It's a long way down to Nashville on the back seat of this hound
Ten long years I've been driftin', my poor heart is sinking down

It's a long way back to back to Dallas, gonna travel this road all night
It's a long way back to back to Dallas, gonna travel this road all night
You know I've gotta keep moving, never gonna stop 'til I see the other side

It's a long way down to nowhere with this monkey on my back
It's a long way down to nowhere with this monkey here on my back
Will you recognize me when you see my shadow float across the tracks?

You know I've got to ramble and that road is deep down in my soul
You know I've got to ramble and that road is deep down in my soul
Gonna tumble with the breeze, where I stop nobody knows
Gonna tumble with the breeze, where I stop nobody knows

Painting Pictures

PAINTING PICTURES

Paint a picture with your song. Paint me up and down all night long
Shake those sad eyes until I'm gone Gonna paint a picture with your song

Lay your head upon my chest. Take it slow and we can make the best
Of the moon and the stars that fly - gonna let your lovin' get me high
Chorus
Tomorrow morning when we part ways, I won't kiss you or ask you to stay
We'll pack it up and burn it down all the way

Paint a picture with your soul. Lay it down, I can't take it anymore
I tried to love you but it's time for me to go
Gonna paint a picture with your soul
Chorus
Tomorrow morning when we part ways, I won't kiss you or ask you to stay
We'll pack it up and burn it down all the way

Chorus
Tomorrow morning when we part ways, I won't kiss you or ask you to stay
We'll pack it up and burn it down all the way

Walk Away

Written By: Chris Sanchez

VERSE
Pouring Rain won't get me down
It's tumbling down my face 'Cause I'm still around
You ask me once again when you know just where I've been
You don't seem to notice when I'm gone
VERSE
There's a clock on the wall
The time it tells doesn't tell me anything at all
It reminds me when I'm late or if I'm gonna have to wait
I don't seem to notice if it's right or wrong

CHORUS
When your head is up in the clouds
And you're just another face in the crowd
Breathe it in and breathe it back out
- And walk away

Memories and sunshine fades
It's a lonely night that brings another lonely day
When you said "goodbye", I didn't have to wonder why
I made it kind of tough for you to stay

When your head is up in the clouds
You want to smile but just not right now
Breathe it in and breathe it back out
- And walk away

It's good to see you, my friend
Through rolling snowflakes and hard and bitter wind
In the morning light, it won't matter who's wrong or right
I just need to feel your heart again

When your head is up in the clouds
And you're just another face in the crowd
Breathe it in and breathe it back out
- And walk away
