Bio

Julius Hare once said, "Half of the failures in life arise from pulling in one's horse as he is leaping."

Chris Adams understands this; "I think I've spent about the last ten years writing songs, feeling this irresistible urge to get them out to the world, and then running as fast as I can in the opposite direction!"

With the imminent release of a new recording project however, he may just get the chance to finally let that horse run free and take that big leap he's been waiting for.

The recording, "Under This Silent Sky", definitely clears the fence with ten moving, powerful, intense, (need I go on..) selections. From songs about grappling with personal insecurities to a satirical take on showboat religionists, these are songs about belief and doubt, trust and betrayal, and the steps along this sacred journey that lead us home. "I really wanted the songs to be strong enough to stand on their own as just 'good music', while still having a depth to them that transcends the standard pop fare we hear so much of these days."

And transcend they do. While having an obvious gospel flare to them, these selections step out of the ordinary, expected themes and explore life from odd angles and difficult places. Songs like "You Can Still Come on Home" speak of betrayal and undeserved mercy, while "You Know What It's Like", conveys a sense of trust and hope, without candy-coating the difficulties of living 'down here'.

Over the last few years, Chris has found himself being called upon more and more as a producer for other singer/songwriters, but still continues to be drawn back to "home base", which is writing and communicating through his own unique style of music.

Never satisfied to simply wear the banner of "performer", (although he realizes that's just part of the territory) Chris has always worked to create music that feels necessary and important. "It may be naïve, but I still believe in the power of a song to call us to a deeper place, to change someone's mind, to wake up a cold heart, or bridge an emotional chasm. That's what I want to be about. It's really just that simple."
