Bio

Kentucky native Chris Carpenter began his journey in high school; with worn-down sneakers and the opportunity to transform his heart with music. Since then, the rest is history.

With influences ranging from Oasis to Counting Crows, to the dynamic-storytelling of Bob Dylan, Carpenter has carved out his path since he moved to Nashville in 2008.

At the age of eleven, Carpenter learned a few chords on the guitar and immediately recognized a gift which would propel him into the next phase of his musicianship. As a means of expression, Carpenter imitated many of the inspirations he looked up to, but also -- studied the texture and nuance of Noel Gallagher’s challenging arrangements.

By sixteen, an age which bridges the gap between adolescence and independence, Carpenter’s voice exuded a soulful sound with crisp clarity. High school choir performances and local theater engagements encouraged him to stay true to his gift of songwriting and artistry.

Towards the closure of high school, Carpenter accumulated many hours of performing, exceeding what most musicians would consider as “normal practice time” at small venues in Winchester, KY.

With the fire ignited, Chris packed up his car -- moved to Nashville and enrolled at the critically acclaimed Belmont University for two years. Carpenter filled his car to the brim with boxes of his musical instincts, fervent ambition and the seamless motivation to transform himself into someone greater than he could have ever imagined.

Since his Belmont years, Carpenter continues to hold true to himself with a self-produced album of original songs on, "What Am I Waiting For". He has since released two more CDs available on iTunes, Rhapsody and CD Baby. The first "Falling Out of the Atmosphere" produced by his uncle Paul Martin of both the Oak Ridge Boys and Marty Stuart's Fabulous Superlatives, the second "If I Run" produced by the Grammy nominated team Crew 22 (John Mattick & Rodney Lawson).

Now twenty-five, Carpenter consistently reinvents himself into a greater sense of who he is as a musician, and continues to still fit into melodies as comfortable as an old pair of sneakers.

As an ASCAP songwriter and publisher, his autobiographical song, “One and Only,” was in currently in the top 10 most-viewed videos on MTVU.com. Most recently, Carpenter competed in the “Freshman 5” competition and successfully came in second place -- but still holds the #1 spot of getting the “most plays” for his video.

Carpenter’s music is currently featured on MTVMusic.com, CMT.com, GACTV.com (Great American Country) and MTVU.com (the college-edition of MTV). Furthermore, “One and Only” has been featured in the soap-opera, “Young and the Restless.” His song, “We’ll Never Know” has also made an appearance on “Men of a Certain Age.” To top this off, Carpenter’s musical talent landed him an eight-song spot on the online-reality show, “Hallo Hollywood".

”His latest single, “Paralyzed”, an up-tempo-anthem, can be viewed on his artist page on mtvmusic.com.
