Chris Colepaugh

" Colepaugh channels the feel and sound of the 1970's country rock scene ... Jayhawks meet Wilco in an alt country acoustic blend of great songs with a timeless feel. "

Chris Colepaugh is from the lost age of alt-country players. Guitar picking, soulful lyrics and music on his own terms. Reminiscent of influences such as Crosby Stills Nash & Young, Willie Nelson, The Zombies, The Jayhawks and Wilco, Chris Colepaugh’s music is an expression of the sounds that reinvented today’s music.

Chris recently signed an endorsement deal with Sennheiser Microphones, Traynor Amplifiers and Gibson Guitars, and signed a deal with his Management Company and Fontana North Distribution. In addition, after his album “In Your Backyard” was completed, Chris spent two weeks in Austin, Texas working under the mentorship of platinum selling artist/producer Gordie Johnson ( Government Mule Producer ) on his new Grady CD project at Willie Nelson’s Studios. “ Working with Gordie was an incredible experience. “ says Colepaugh who works in the industry as a music producer himself. “ It was inspiring to see Willie’s platinum records on the wall everyday and to think of the caliber of musicians that have recorded at Pedernales.”

Chris Colepaugh has performed at SXSW , CMW, NXNE, NEMO, Evolve and have toured extensively with over fifteen national coast-to-coast tours. Part of his US itineraries have included dates with the North Mississippi Allstars, a performance at the House Of Blues in Boston, MA , several tours of New England and southern US, the U.S. West and two tours of Southern California .

Don't Want You Round

Written By: Chris Colepaugh

Don’t Want You Around

What you leave with
Is what you came with
When you’re stepping out the back door
Who to cling to when they blame you?
And they don’t want you around no more

Watched the evening sun go down
On these empty city streets
To know what makes the world go round
Still it never feels complete

These four walls are closing in
On this broken lonely man
No one wants to be alone
But still no one can understand

200 Miles

Written By: Chris Colepaugh / Craig Watson

I remember everything from ‘63
Freedom wasn't meant for anyone but you and me
The grass was always greener on the always-greener side
We held our hope within our hands
And we held our hearts with pride

200 miles from hope, 200 miles from peace
200 miles from anything and 200 minds at ease
200 favorite footsteps, 200 psalms of faith
200 northern lights and 200 voices that just can't wait

I remember everything from ‘81
We thought the fascists caught us but the bastards hadn't won
We ran them from our hilltops - our children unaware
Our flag was flown, equality shown
Our flag was ours to bear

I can't remember anything from ‘94
We were processed by the system; they locked our iron doors
All I see are footsteps to the promise land above
And I promise not to leave this land so desolate and unloved
