Bio
Chris Del Priore is the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist for the long running San Diego band Mesa Blue. Chris started his music career as a solo artist in Florida in the early 80’s, playing light rock and country tunes. In 1985, after graduating from the University of Florida with an engineering degree, he moved to San Diego to work for a large defense contractor. Chris managed to keep his music interests alive in spite of his day gig demands.
After a short cover band stint, followed by a short original music venture playing with Carlos Olmeda and Jeff Stasny in The Ryebabies, Chris decided it was time to get more serious with music and began writing his own. Mesa Blue was formed as a trio with Jeff Stasny on drums and Omar Ramirez on bass, with Chris leading the charge. They recorded CDs in 1995, 1999, and 2004. Chris has often referred to his style as southwestern jazz.
The band plays regularly now but only about 2 or 3 shows a month. Chris loves to mix many styles of music, including latin jazz, modern jazz, light rock, and blues. He also likes to mix covers with his originals, covering artists such as John Mayer, Steely Dan, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and many others.”.
