Back inside Chris Duke & The Royals were tearing it up with their infectious punk rock. It was bouncy, it was fun. The crowd dug the band who have the catchiness of Less Than Jake. Bio

Chris Duke and the Royals are a ska band that doesn’t really play ska, mixed with a punk band that doesn’t really play punk. Their brand of fun filled upbeat vibes can best be described as “Party punk”.

Based in Sydney, the band has just released a brand new CD titled “Music and Maniacs” which showcases their recently increased six piece line up featuring even more harmonies and horns. Their launch at the Annandale Hotel March 2011 was almost a complete sell out and the crowd appreciated the bands own take on the entire Lion King soundtrack, which they performed live.

Within the last 2 years has seen CDATR support great acts such as Bedouin Soundclash (CAN), Guttermouth (USA), The Flatliners (CAN), The Real Deal (CAN), Area 7 and Dan Potthast (USA) and even realise childhood dreams by playing alongside Deni Hines at the Cruelty Free Festival.

They have just returned from a successful national tour supporting American ska/punk heavyweights Streetlight Manifesto, and another trip to WA to continue to plug their new CD.

Whilst in Brisbane the band the filmed a clip for their latest single, the title track from the new CD Music and Maniacs which will be released online over the next month. It features the band sweating it out on a roof top overlooking the cityscape on a stinking hot day.

Their latest release really captures their energetic live shows and a more mature song writing process. It can be purchased over itunes, at any of their shows or through their webstore via myspace and facebook.

The band has previously released an EP Scissors Paper Rock (2006) and an album Mega Awesome Kapow (2009).
