Still working on that hot first release.

Some people are born to do what they do, and Chris Ferrara is no exception.

Hailing from Sharon, MA, a small suburb of Boston, Ferrara’s life actually began on stage when his mother went into labor with him while performing in the Sunday choir. It was as if the joyful noise was calling to him, and he needed to be a part of it. Since that day, his voice has been begging to be heard.

At a young age, he was performing in talent shows and singing The Star Spangled Banner before events. This would come in handy down the road, as, for the last three years, Chris has sung the National Anthem before the New England Patriots’ Christmas Eve home game at Gillette Stadium. As he grew up, his voice would earn him spots in theater companies and performance troupes, touring around the New England region, including being selected to sing at Symphony Hall in Boston and Carnegie Hall in New York City.

Ferrara, commonly referred to as “OZ,” went on to form a band in college with his best friend, Kingston 530, which saw some regional success, but in 2012, an offer to pursue a full-time career in music pulled him from Boston to Nashville. Over the next three years, Ferrara split time between Music City and the road while on tour with country artist, Joe Bachman, and in 2015, the two formed the party band, The Tailgaters. which toured nationally and internationally, playing over 1,000 shows across 48 states, Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean Islands.

Now, after stepping out into the spotlight and backed by his seven piece band, The Common Good, Ferrara has launched his own brand of music that is as familiar as it is new. He draws from an eclectic mix of influences - from Muscle Shoals to Motown and every stop in between - to bring a style that will breathe life into your playlists. The much anticipated release of his debut EP, Something to Prove, introduces listeners to a new blend of rock and roll with country soul, and features the single, “Social,” a feel good anthem adopted by for their 2016 Summer Campaign.

Known for their high energy performances and unique sound, Chris Ferrara + The Common Good recently landed a spot on Topgolf’s Who Will Rock You competition, judged by Bobby Bones and Maggie Rose, where they were the runners-up in the season finale. Chris and his band have also been holding a Thursday night residency at Dierks Bentley’s Whiskey Row on Broadway since January of this year.

The band’s name is a direct reflection of Ferrara’s mission: to make the world a better place for the common good. His movement, aptly named For The Common Good, raises awareness and funds for programs or individuals in need of assistance. They have donated to veterans, disaster victims, fire departments, disability programs, and many others in need. “I realized," he explains, "for every one story about violence, destruction, and negativity, there were multiple stories of charity, compassion, and goodness- stories that deserved to be highlighted- and I want to use whatever platform I have to showcase them. ‘The Common Good' is a community of people who believe that if we start treating each other better and living for the common good instead of one's self, the world will become an even better place. Kindness is contagious.

Whether you were raised by a boombox or a bluetooth speaker, this is the kind of music for you. With a little bit of everything for everybody, it is no wonder his personality, familiar style of music, and feel good shows are garnering fans all over the globe, across all genres.
