Chris Grayson

BandPopAdult Contemporary

My music is about real life and real feelings. A listener can apply the lyrics to situations in their own lives and live the song. My songs come straight from the heart.

Biography

I have always dreamed of becoming a full time songwriter and a couple of years ago I started playing guitar again after a long rest and decided to spend a couple of years working at my dream. Although I have not reached the ultimate goal of signing a publishing deal I have had some success and positive feedback. I entered some of my songs into the 2008 UK International Songwriting Competition and four songs reached the semi final. Three are included in my EPK. They are 'Leave Your Light On', 'Believe' and 'Crazy Times'.

Leave Your Light On

Goodness only knows
How loneliness just grows and grows
Like a fire that’s out of control
The flames of anger just grow and grow

Like a sailor who’s lost at sea
I need your light to guide me
Like a child who just can’t let it go
Your loving words can soothe my sole

Leave your light on, Leave your light on
Leave your light on, Leave your light on
I need something I can rely on, please leave your light on
I need something I can rely on, please leave your light on
Comfort me……..

And I remember what you said to me
And how those words would steady me
And I remember how you would laugh at me
As we talked about how it used to be

Now forgive me if I’m talking out of turn
You’ll have to forgive me, I guess I’ll never learn
Now its time and I just have to say
It’s looking like you who’s lost their way

Leave your light on, Leave your light on
Leave your light on, Leave your light on
I need something I can rely on, please leave your light on
I need something I can rely on, please leave your light on
Comfort me……..

You've Got The Sunshine

You’ve Got The Sunshine
Music and Lyrics Copyright © Chris Grayson 2008 – ISCA Registered

I walked one thousand miles
To see the sunshine in your eyes
I felt the rain fall from darkened skies
But I saw the sunshine in your eyes

Funny how you can make me feel
How much I care, how much you mean to me
I see the sunshine in your eyes
You are the sunshine in my life

Your warm heart touches everyone you meet
Even in the hard times you can’t be beat
With you beside me I glow with pride
You give the meaning to my life

Funny how you can make me feel
How much I care, how much you mean to me
I see the sunshine in your eyes
You are the sunshine in my life

And in a moment your always there
You fix the problems, you never despair
Our children know that you’ll never let go
We know our love for you will grow and grow

Funny how you can make me feel
How much I care, how much you mean to me
I see the sunshine in your eyes
You are the sunshine in my life

Funny how you can make me feel
How much I care, how much you mean to me
I see the sunshine in your eyes
You are the sunshine in my life

Believe

Believe
Music and Lyrics Copyright © Chris Grayson 2007 – ISCA Registered

Why don’t you stay here for a while
You can take some time to ease your troubled mind
It don’t matter anymore what you feel inside
It aint real, forget about how you feel

All this time that you’ve been on your way
Is time you could have saved for another day
You should have kept your feet on solid ground
You would have found what you were looking for by now

Cos I believe
We are all free to escape from mediocrity
Sew the seeds of what we want to be
Write our names in history

So for everything you’ve ever done for me
Help clear my mind and give me sympathy
I can help you if you’ll allow me to
Just stick around cos I once felt the same as you

And if you find yourself laying face down in the dirt
And feelings don’t make no sense but you know it hurts
It might sound strange but just forget about the pain
You might of lost this time but know you’ve got it all to gain

Cos I believe
We are all free to escape from mediocrity
Sew the seeds of what we want to be
Write our names in history

I believe….

Crazy Times

Crazy Times

Music and Lyrics Copyright © Chris Grayson 2007 – ISCA Registered

We are living in some crazy times
All mankind are surely on the losing side
With broken promises and crazy prophecies
Leaders who try to please with their strange philosophies

There’s too many people searching for a promised land
Too many dictators with their blood on their hands
Too many children dying as they play in the sand
On top of bombs your armies left behind

We are living in some crazy times
All mankind are surely on the losing side
With broken promises and crazy prophecies
Leaders who try to please with their strange philosophies

With broken promises our hopes fade away
And the anger we feel inside remains for another day
And tears of frustration fuel our need for emancipation
And fears of extreme intentions invade our imaginations

We are living in some crazy times
All mankind are surely on the losing side
With broken promises and crazy prophecies
Leaders who try to please with their strange philosophies

We are living in some crazy times….

Coming Of Age

Coming of Age
Words and Music Copyright © Chris Grayson 2007 – ISCA Registered

You feel like you’re on the losing side
When you try you never find a place to hide
And you don’t like to stand out in the crowd but
Sometimes you shout it out and you shout it out loud

You’re like an open door
They walk right through you like they never even seen you before
You once felt like you knew the score
They hear you when you talk but they don’t listen anymore

But today is your coming of age
The end of your down and out days
Life is a game that you’ve learned how to play
Yeah, today is your coming of age

You feel lost but you don’t want to be forgotten
They look right through you make you feel like your invisible
You stand beside them but the they’re so far away from you
All you want them to do is reach out to you

Today is your coming of age
The end of your down and out days
Life is a game that you’ve learned how to play
Yeah, today is your coming of age

Today is your coming of age
The end of your down and out days
Life is a game that you’ve learned how to play
Yeah, today is your coming of age

Life is a game that you’ve learned how to play
Yeah, today is your coming of age….

Fear Of Flying

Fear Of Flying
Music and Lyrics Copyright © Chris Grayson 2008 – ISCA Registered

What an up and down time
Since you came along and made the sunshine
I can say at least for a short time
It felt kind of sublime

Now can you help me with this fear I hide
You see I’ve got this problem, I’m afraid to fly
Just to see you I got to cross one hundred skies
I only wish that I could get that high

My bag was packed and I was ready
I had another line, poured another whiskey
I checked the weather on my T.V
And packed a magazine for the journey

And when I look into the sky at night
And watch the lights disappearing out of sight
I only wish that I had made that flight
I would have seen you on the other side

Now can you help me with this fear I hide
You see I’ve got this problem, I’m afraid to fly
Just to see you I got to cross one hundred skies
I only wish that I could get that high

What an up and down time
Since you came along and made the sunshine
I can say at least for a short time
It felt kind of sublime

Getting High, Feeling Low

Getting High, Feeling Low
Words and Music Copyright © Chris Grayson 2007 – ISCA Registered

You live your life in another time
But you keep an eye on the other side
You watch them working on their alibis
That helps them keep on running from their dirty lies

And you can tell me that it’s all the same
And that you’re only feeling superficial pain
But I can tell that that’s just a foolish game
To stop you feeling any real pain

You’re getting high but your feeling low
And all the time your need for something grows and grows
You’re talking with confidence but that comes and goes
You’re getting high but you’re feeling low

And all the people, they stop and say hello
You call them friends but then you just let them go
What a wonderful thing it would be if you could let them know
One of these days your loving heart is gonna show

You’re getting high but you’re feeling low
And all the time your need for something grows and grows
You’re talking with confidence but that comes and goes
You’re getting high but you’re feeling low

You’re getting high but you’re feeling low
And all the time your need for something grows and grows
You’re talking with confidence but that comes and goes
You’re getting high but you’re feeling low

Seeing It From The Outside

Seeing It From The Outside
Music and Lyrics Copyright © Chris Grayson 2008 – ISCA Registered

It’s been a long time
Since we had some together time
And I was here with you
And not out there somewhere

Daydreams are only make believe
An idea of where you want to be
When you let go of hope
It’s a lonely road

With feelings of anger
I feel stranger and stranger
What a time not to swallow my pride
I was in danger

Your look could not compensate
For what I was beginning to hate
And I could feel it on the inside
And you could see it from the outside

Now I’m stepping back from the edge
And I try to erase all the thoughts in my head
Life is just a moment in time
Like the feelings I leave behind

With feelings of anger
I feel stranger and stranger
What a time not to swallow my pride
I was in danger

Your look could not compensate
For what I was beginning to hate
And I could feel it on the inside
And you could see it from the outside

Pleasure Trip

Pleasure Trip

Words and Music Copyright © Chris Grayson 2008 – ISCA Registered

It was sometime in the evening
When you started deceiving
And the next day was the worst day
As I watched you leaving

You see my life is like a pleasure trip
And sometimes I even make myself sick
I wasn’t going to jump from any sinking ship
Cos my life was like a pleasure trip

It’s getting hard to hide my emotions
And my tears flow like rivers into oceans
And all the times and places I keep recalling
Keep me on my feet and stop me falling

Sometimes I give in and I take a rest
And I stop trying to hold my breath
And all the feelings come flooding back
And in waves of emotion I drown myself

I know that somewhere in the back of my mind
I’ve locked away memories of the lasting kind
I’ve got enough time to sit and contemplate
Why a man hesitates and leaves it all up to fate

Another week in another month
Another month in another year
The sands of time cover up my eyes
And the winds of change blow through my life

You see my life was like a pleasure trip
And sometimes I’d even make myself sick
But I wasn’t going to jump from any sinking ship
My life was like a pleasure trip….
