"Chris Henry (Little Rock)"

• Henry was part of the young rock trio American Standard, which was an Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase finalist in 2002. As a solo act, Henry has displayed a guitar-playing style in the vein of Leo Kottke or Tim Reynolds (a Dave Matthews pal), or similar to John Mayer’s heavier stuff, but Henry brings a heavier rock edge to his singing. He blends some improvisation into solid contemporary rock songs.

"Arkansas Times Musicians Showcase"

It is fitting that Chris has a opening gig later this month for Tim Reynolds at the Revolution Room — Reynolds being one of Dave Matthews’ close musician friends as well as being one of the great acoustic-electric guitarists. Little Rock’s Chris Henry is in that mold.

"Chris Henry is a Fresh Breeze"

"Every great once in a while a fresh breeze passes through and breathes new life into classics as it presents us with original work that we can drink in like ocean air. Such a breezy day has arrived. Chris Henry is a guitar talent who takes an accoustic guitar and some fun pedals and creates- that's just it; he dosen't just play, he creates. With one solitary guitar on stage, he draws out of it deep hard rhythms and full rich tones filled with emotion..." - Free Press, Little Rock, AR

chris henry. A cd which contains 8 solo originals.

Chris was born on October 25, 1983, in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he still lives. He became interested in music at an early age, and began playing the guitar at age ten. He immediately showed talent and was a quick study, learning rock tunes and forming a cover band of friends. They continued under various names until this year when they won a spot at Wakarusa as Cooper's Orbit. Chris was the front man, lead guitarist and vocalist. From the beginning, Chris began to write, introducing originals into their set list. Also, Chris had developed a fresh, new style which was well received and he began to perform as an acoustic rock soloist, highlighting his originals and improvising on guitar while covering some of the rock classics.

During this transition, friends and fans urged Chris to spend some time in the studio and record some of his originals. This culminated in the current Chris Henry CD, which Chris is producing as an independent.

You can catch samples of each of his songs at, view a photo gallery, see a calendar of upcoming gigs, e-mail your thoughts, discuss music on line and purchase the CD. You can also link to his MySpace page and some YouTube pages. The most remarkable of these is a Youtube vid taken by a member of the audience capturing John Popper walking onstage and surprising Chris covering one of Blues Traveler's best known songs.
