"Featured Artist Of The Month"

Chris' sound defies the fact that he is so young. It's a mature sound, vocally and lyrically. - Upbeat Radio

"Hurricanes Review"

There are times when I come across an artist that I do not wish to classify in a music group. Chris Holcombe is one of these artists. His music is unique but not so far-fetched that a person might not “get it.” Mississippi Rain is a thought provoking tune that triggers my curiosity to the details of the story that’s behind this song...His vocals are simple yet strong, perfectly representing the wonderful melody. - The Music Review

"East Nashville Tomato Festival Write-Up"

As a teen Chris Holcombe was included in an anthology of nationally published songwriters titled On the Road. Though only 13 at the time, Holcombe’s work already had a maturity and credibility that he’s maintained through his time as a student at the celebrated Berklee College of Music in Boston and now continues through various projects, among them his CDSettin’ the Moon on Fire and more recent The Trouble with Loving Hurricanes. At various times Holcombe’s pieces have been autobiographical, philosophical or historical, but he’s probably best known for the gritty tune “One Too Many in Love” which he co-wrote with Michael McDonald. - Nashville City Paper

Bio

By the time Chris Holcombe turned 13, he was published in “On The Road,” an anthology showcasing lyrical excellence. Later that year, he co-wrote his most well known song with the great Michael McDonald. The song was “One Too Many In Love” and is featured on his first recording of songs “Settin' The Moon On Fire.”

In the spring of 2006, Chris released his second collection “The Trouble With Loving Hurricanes.” The 4-song EP brought out his blues and soul influences, matching his descriptive lyrics to backdrops reminiscent of the Temptations and Al Green. Chris says of the CD, “It's not a blues or soul record in anyway, (Rev. Green still owns them in a way I never could), but I like to say that Hurricanes is my interpretation of smooth blues and soul.”

2008 was the year he experimented with visual presentation, working with director and producer Richard Biggs for the video “Dirty Blood.” With the use of green screen technology and local acting talent, Chris and Rich created a stunning visual story of human longing.

Chris Holcombe is a unique talent. He sings strong yet simple vocals that emphasize the superior writing. He can be flirtatious, sensual, and heartbreaking all within the same song, describing the human experience with humor and poignant wisdom.
